At this stage in the game, even if he fixes his head, how many years does he have left? He's not 35 but he's not 21 either. The Leafs would be better off selling high with Phaneuf too. - Unholy_Goalie
A first and a B-prospect would gett'er done. |

1st line centers. Not 2nd line. Draft BPA, don't give up talent just for positional need. Fill that position later through trade.
Think of Pittsburgh, did they draft a d-man just because they already had Malkin? Nope, went for Crosby. Did they draft one when they had Crosby & Malkin? nope, they went for Staal. Know why?
(here's a hint... the acronym starts with a B, ends with an A, and has the letter after O in the middle) - Schenn-Sational!
Comparing Pittsburgh, Crosby and Malkin to the Leafs with Dumba and Phaneuf is hilarious. It's not even close to the same scenario. I know you would blindly believe Dumba is THAT good but he's not. Come back to reality. If Dumba is the next Norris winner, why can't Faksa be a 1st line center? Does Faksa work too hard to be a 1st liner? |

His smarts? Have you even watched this guy play? He's a maverick. He will bust out of the zone like he's going to take on the world. Most of the time he gets away with it but there are a lot of times when he loses the puck or goes head hunting like his Godfather Phaneuf and misses by a mile.
You seem to think I absolutely hate this guy. I don't. Dumba has got some talents. But he's undersized for the style of game he wants to play and right now he's succeeding because his skating gets him out of trouble. Against smarter players, at higher levels, that style of play will blow up in his face more oftne than it does now.
The Leafs need a center. That's a fact. Burke said he's going to target a center. That's a fact. Taking Dumba is just unnecessary. Period. There's only one defender worth taking and that's Murray. Outside of that, the Leafs need a center. - Unholy_Goalie
You've called him mindless and stupid a number of times. Kinda lends the impression that no, you don't like him. Especially when every. single. report. compliments his defensive skills and hockey smarts. |

He's never seen them play. You can bet that he's never watched Dumba play more then 2 times.
He'll read scouting reports on them and that's it |

Because he gets tunnel vision, both offensively and defensively, the same way Phaneuf does. It's a stupid way to play the game at the NHL level unless you're Bobby Orr and can pull it off. Hint: Very few ever do. Half the praise he gets for his "defensive" play is because he hits so often and so hard. People see a guy who hits and they think "oh wow, he must play good defensively". Just like they do with Phaneuf. It's not that I don't like Dumba. It's that I don't like him AS MUCH AS YOU DO so much so that the Leafs ignore their needs. |

You're the only one bringing up Phaneuf. Stop doing that.
You're also the only one bringing up trophies.
I'm pointing out that winning teams go for the BPA, they don't draft based on needs. Dumba, given his skill-set, is the better player... even if you think a guy who's potential is a 2nd line center(assuming he even winds up a center) is a better fit for a team that already has 2nd line Cs... You're still letting skill and value go. Value that can be used to make a trade for a top line center later. |

And because Dumba is such a risky player, he could be a 2nd pairing defender instead of a 1st pairing defender. See how easy that is to do? You want to limit Faksa's potential, I can limit Dumba's. The difference is that Faksa is what we need. |

he won't even do that. He'll one player comparison from one report, ignore everything else, and build his opinion based on that. |
