Zach Parise expressed his desire to re-sign with the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday. "I like the people here," he said. "I like the staff, my teammates. I like the area. There's a lot of good things about this place." The Devils captain also said that if he did become an unrestricted free agent that he wouldn't sign with the New York Rangers, so scratch them off the potential list of suitors.

Ek:
On the Flyers...
I keep hearing of a two-part plan in Philly. First I believe the Flyers are going to make a huge push to try and trade for a d-man who could fill in Pronger's shoes and being the cornerstone for the defense "for the next 6-10 years." The deal would include the Flyers moving 2 top six forwards + and would also dictate what they would do with Matt Carle...who the Flyers really like and want to keep. If the deal doesn't go down by the draft I am hearing Carle will return and the Flyers second plan would be to go after Wideman...
On the Habs and Flyers...
Hearing the Flyers and Habs may be looking at a backup goalie swap...Bobrovsky for Budaj (e2)
Anyone buying this? |

Parise is a classy guy, that's the answer I would've expected out him.
I'd bet he takes the biggest contract though. |

Not liking that too much. Don't want a D-corps with both Wideman and Carle think mebbe that's too much of the samething.

Well, the rumored deal I heard for Weber involved 2 forwards + so yes. I also believe they'll go hard after Weber at the draft, and if they fail then they will try for Parise while re-signing Carle. |

I believe Ek meant that if they can't resign Carle, then they'd try for Wideman.
The "big guy" they want isn't Wideman that's for sure. |

If they landed a big-time d-man at the draft, aka Weber, then they wouldn't need to re-sign Carle |

Not true huh? Kimmo talking with Holmgren after the season about needing personnel changes because of the lockeroom didn't happen? Dry Island was all a rumor? Many players on this year's squad who were there last year didn't state how much better the room was such as Pronger, Hartnell, Giroux. Lavy and Richards didn't admit that their relationship was ice cold last year? Richards didn't show up an hour late to the jersey unveiling a few years back and then leave immediately following it, being in a bad mood the whole time towards fans? Peter Luuko didn't make a comment (which was so obviously a dig at Frick and Frack) about how Giroux during the Stanley Cup Finals was unlike any other young player because all he did was ask about how much more he could do? Mike Richards wouldn't wear a Flyers hat for interviews even when directed to by his bosses. Jeff Carter, a professional hockey player and an adult, barricaded himself in a beach house forcing his new bosses to come to him and convince him to do his job. Lastly, many annonomous Kings players earlier this year mentioned that Richards was dividing the room between his guys and Brown's guys. (I could even mention Richards play pretty much most of the 2nd half of the year when he looked indifferent to trying, but I guess there is no proof to that).
Don't be so naive. - Flyers1218
I'll address one issue, as the rest of it all just circumstantial BS that you are inferring means what you think it means. Because so much of it is just media generated nonsense.
As far as wearing the hat. A called called up WIP about the hat issue with Richards. And take this however you want to. And this is from Al Morganti. Richards asked for and received permission from the team to wear the hat he was wearing. The hat advertised a Company that a freind of his was trying to get off the ground. SoRicchards was doing a favor a freind.
As far as Richards dividing the Kings dressing room. Show me where any of this is on the record? |

But where I totally disagree is your logic as far as Carter with Columbus. Columbus is such a weak team with some may holes in it, that no player of Jeff Carter's ability would turn it around. Only the best of the superstars would have made a significant difference in that situation. So that logic is flawed. - MJL
My point there was that people are claiming the Flyers lost the trade(s) because Carter (and Richards) won a Cup. I was illustrating that there were a lot of other factors, not the least of which was what team they ended up with, that factor into how the trades should be perceived. I'm not trying to discredit Carter so much as discredit the views of those who think that, because he won a Cup with LA, that he would have been able to help the Flyers win a Cup this season had they held onto him.
And I also disagree with using that logic to again minimize Carter's role on LA. And what did the Flyers win in adding Couturier and Voracek - MJL
I didn't minimize Carter's role.
"The bottom line is that is was a good deal for both teams in the Carter trade to Columbus. In winning the Cup, using the same standard, there is absolutely no doubt that adding Carter was a big positive for LA. Have to apply the same standard of judgement and ee it both ways."- MJL
As far as Coots and Voracek, I think they outproduced Carter in the reg season and Couturier's defensive prowess in containing Malkin in the playoffs was a thing of beauty and a great sign for the future, so I am making a point that just because JC won a Cup, doesn't negate or outweigh the positive performance on the Flyers of the players received for him thus far and into the future, so one cannot determine who "won" these trades, yet. At this point it's a win-win, which is in contradicition with those casual observers who are sayign the Flyers lost the trade. |

I'm lost as to what character they displayed. One moped his way off a team and the other was underwhelming all year on his team. - JoeRussomanno
I don't agree that one moped his way off a team. And Joe aren't you a supporter of Bryzgalov, nd haven't you stated many times that there is an adjustment period going to a new team? Why doesn't that apply to Richards? And what matters more, how he played early in the regular Season, or later and in the playoffs? |

The fact that they won the Cup in LA doesn't disprove any of the rumors that persisted about them any more than Jeff Carter's abysmal performance in Columbus proved them to be true. A player traded to another organization comes into a brand new team with a "clean slate", and they are often on their best behvior and trying to impress their new teammates and bosses. That's a far cry from the entrenched position they were in here which led to a sense of entitlement and permanency that can breed a lack of discipline and focus. I have found many (not all) of the alleged rumors to be credible, based on people around the organization and other sources I have that shall remain nameless. You can continue to believe there was nothing to them, but that wouldn't be accurate. - phantasm
So Richards had a sense of entitlement when he was here. And all of the accomplishents, including being a key player on this year's Cup winner, bears that out? That's ridiculous. And Richards is just trying to impress his new team? Seriously, you have to do better then that. Richards play and role on a Cup team just further cements that a large majority of the accusations against him were complete nonsense.
And unless your willing to name your sources and provide the documentation to back it up, it's just more rumuor, specualation, and innuendo to me. |
