weren't you the one saying our economy should be based on exploitation of resources? see how it fits with Kyoto when you strip mine half of Quebec and flood the other half to make reservoirs. - basementfloor
Yes I am. There are ways to exploit though.
Keeping 50 year olds rubber pipelines who run over one of the most important water pool in Alberta that break every year is not a good one.
It's more costy though.
And it's hard to enforce to private companies, so that's why you exploit them yourself, by your own standards.
This way you not only keep your soil clean, but you also get a better buck for the province as not only do you create jobs, but you also get the total of the profit, which would lower the fiscal weight on the taxpayers. |

Ideally it wouldn't be the liberals running the show.
But the PQ is subject to be as corrupt as them, to a certain extent.
They've been away from the power for a while so that might not be true at the beginning.
That'a huge reason why I like that 2 mandate rule in the states, prevent somewhat the corruption. |

But if the guy in charge is doing really good...I mean, look at FDK. Americans probably would have liked to keep him as long as possible (please ignore the fact that he died during his 4th office here, it's just an exemple). |

The only way this is ever going to get better is if the whole entire political, and economic systems get overhauls, thing is this will never, ever happen. Why, one because it will take to (frank)ing long to enforce, and imply, and 2nd is for the main reason, good old hard cash, cant change a system that allows politicians, bankers and big business to filter more public money into their own (frank)ing pockets, that would be anti-democratic and against everything we supposedly stand for. The hypocrisy of our democracy, ra ra ra, patriotism, end rant... |

PQ would be just as corrupt. but they're able to bury corruption under their nationalist agenda. it's quite brilliant. wouldn't trust Charest or the Libs to shave my balls but will take them over the PQ any time.
at the end of the day, this could all be worse.
*googles Syria*

One thing for sure, as much as I'm socialist left artsy pinko as I can be, I don't give a (frank) if the Liberals are in charge, as long as 1) (frank)ing Charest is not their boss and 2) government people who are guilty of corruption are kicked away with consequences.
