If you were the GM or Capt.. u would trade the whole team b/c they are all horrible. Bailey who is 21 is a bust .. and will never pan out. Okposo.. same thing... A mack, Grabner, Reese, etc... all bums.. trade them all..
You sir are Mike Milbury. - niteislander
If I can trade them and get real good players and put a competitve team on the ice that fans will watch and love, and I am winning games getting into the playoffs then I would do whatever it took.
Bailey has a lot to prove and if I was GM in the AHL with him. A mac is really not that impressive to me. I can find another D man who does the same thing as him they are a dime a dozen. Reese umm yeah no chance to play for my team. |

Well ok I will say this, once we have a goaltender who we can deem number one to carry this team then yes those lines will make the playoffs but will not win a cup - kasperrko
You had the Rangers winning the cup or u were buying DP jerseys... here is the funny part. The Rangers were outplayed by Ottawa. They were outplayed by Washington too. Their goalie was the difference. When Henrik let up 2 goals or more in a game they lost. |

Henrik was a HUGE part of that team of course. What about all of those shots that didn't make it through to him? |

well id agree the forwards on a whole werent very effective but even more so the secondary scoring....http://rangers.nhl.com/club/stats.htm - LetsGoIsles
Let's call a spade a spade, without a college kid they lose to Ottawa or the third cap rookie in Holtby knocks out Lundqvist. It was almost like an advantage for them he was not part of their defensive mantra to the point it limited him like so many others.
This kind of hockey is the new trap, it's chess and obviously the latest thing many teams are having success with including the Kings. I'm not sure it's something the Isles can play but how they may be forced to compete.
Where the Isles do have problems is size, skating, hitting with a skating defense that can get some transition going from offense to defense scoring.
You see so many other teams play and four or five players are always on the puck, this team looked shorthanded trying to play offense and pinned in on defense.
Even Columbus looked huge compared to this team, Colorado, Boston, some games it was painfully obvious. |

Yes Blocking shots was a big part of their system. Meanwhile when we had guys who were among the league leader in blocked shots u guys hated them.. Suttan, Jurcina, etc. Want a crazy stat... we blocked more shots then the rangers last year and everyone else. http://www.nhl.com/ice/te...ts&viewName=realTimeStats
Doesn't count though b/c Snow sux and Wang is an idiot. |

I have a hard time understanding how you can criticize a team for drafting a plyer who was a huge contibuter in the playoffs?
I'll ask this question again, whose fault is it that "even Columbus looked huge" compared to us? |

I disagree with this... i know this isn't going to happen but just for the sake of argument.
U don't think Adding a Yandle/Suter and a Carter/Parise makes this team a cup contender? At the very least a Playoff team? We already have one of the best first lines in hockey. and now u add Parise/Carter type to the mix. U take out the trash that added nothing and add some of our young prospects.. play a real goalie the WHOLE Season. How many close games did we lost last year? How many on 1 or 2 bad goals? U don't think adding 1 35 to 40 goal guy and 1 TOP notch D-man changes a bunch of those games?
you don't think this Defense is good enough?
Hamonic/Suter
Streit/Amack
Donovan/ (vet)
Dehaan or Reese
You don't think these lines can compete?
Moulson/ JT/ Okposo
Parise/ Strome/ Grabner
Martin/nielsen/PA
Ullstrom/ Reasoner (yuk) or Casey C. / Hillen (or Joensu, Nino, etc.) - niteislander
A contender? Absolutely not. I think it makes them a bottom rung playoff team, 6-8 seed. You have so many unknowns in your proposed lineup. Nobody knows what you're going to get out of Strome (if he even makes the team) or if PAP actually comes back or what Cizikas and Ullstrom will even bring to the table if they even make the team. you don't know what Reese, de Haan or Donovan could give you over 82 games.
One thing that everyone should have been able to see from these playoffs is that depth is critical. You have to be able to run four lines and 3 pairs of "D" out all game and have them all contribute at both ends of the ice. I don't think we've seen enough from guys like Bailey, KO, Nielsen, etc. to depend on them for productivity when it counts. |

I like Sutton and Jurcina. I loved the block shots. That stat alone though is not going to make you win games. You still need 24 guys to be playing at a high level with NHL talent. Unfortunately the Islanders dont have that. They have a lot of AHL and ECHL talent. I think that is why we always hire an AHL coach. This is an AHL team |

Well there goes my insult for Asian kids THANKS ALOT, but out of all seriousness this team is not being managed well at all. I am sorry friend but they are not. They have been rebuilding for years with the same result. Wang looks for any areas to cut the budget and or corners. The building is a joke Wang is a joke Snow is a joke and Crappy is a joke. If I was a NHL player there is no way I am goign to play for this team. I would take less money to play for a team who is not the laughing stock of the NHL and is respected. - kasperrko
How are they not being managed well when all the players here desperately want to stay and make that clear all the time? No one forced Tavares, Grabner, Okposo to take backloaded money, no one forced Nielsen or Nabokov to return.
They work here, why would they want any money if things were as bad as you claim?
So giving Tavares 36 million dollars early is cutting corners, or what those other players got or all the players signed through the system. Three of this teams picks from last summers draft were all signed early so how is that cutting corners.
Seems the players here want to be here very much and know they are getting close to winning.
The Coliseum at age 40 is a joke? What does that make 1968 Msg or the Igloo or all those buildings open for 60-70 years? Oh that's right their media grew up fans of those dumps and we have Dolan's Newsday and Dolan's Msg with angry former media relations coordinator and Brooks, Botte cheap shots from afar.
Red Fisher calls the Montreal Forum a dump, the team calls up the Gazette and he's gone 25 years earlier along with the Habs ad money they pay the paper.
If you were an NHL player you would come here and discover what Nabokov did, even with three prospect goalies and DiPietro you happily signed on. |

That's a throw away stat not reflective of a good team defense but one pinned in it's own end of the ice far too often because it was too slow to transition which also meant it was outnumbered in the offensive zone because no one's exactly scared on Eaton, Jurcina, Staios or Mottau scoring or lumbering into a quality area.
That's all Pandolfo could do here. |

If you read my post this place appeals to certain players cause there is no pressure to win here. Tavares I am happy he signed. I think the whole fan based would have unted Wang and Snow down to have him sign so they were goign to give him anything he wants, but they have yet to surround him with much talent. Grabner signing a huge contract is because no one else wanted him. What would you do? Okposo signed as well to get back to his form and I bet you anything if he was an elite player he would not have signed here long term. This team has no direction. If Wang can not open up his pocket book for talent on this team then this team is goin no where. There are free agents to be had every year out there but we sign the Jon Sims and REasoners of the world. Why cause they are cheap.
Oh and buddy you dont know me I would not play anywhere near Ricky D. He is nothing but an atrocity. Every eyar he tells us how great he feels and then he blows a tire. He should be out of hockey and sitting at home watching like he does every year but with out pay. It is funny I am not the only guy who would probably not play for the ISlanders. Ask the hundreds of NHL talent out there who are free agent every year why they chose not to play with the Islanders. Coincidence? I think not. This team is a joke and well you are fitting right in with the joke cause you for some deranged reason reason belive this team is managed well and that they are awesome and that they are the best. I aprreciate your love and comapssion but open your eyes this team has not been relevant since the early 90's and they are not close now either. |

Usually I wouldn't really give a crap about that news, but if they think Poulin is going to come up and be the backup next season then they damn well better have an equal or better goalie coach there to mentor him. |

Most of the goalies said good things about him. One thing he said about Nilsson seemed right on...that when he came to Bport, he was sound positionally, but needed to work on his speed and trusting his reflexes more. |
