If this is true then he needs to be traded now.
- mighty13duck

A lot of people on here get wowed with the "dynamic russians" or the media hyped prospects leading up to the draft. People on here want this player or that player. Well i've watched some of these kids live, and Anders Lee stood out.

Like Travis Hamonic was a steal in the later rounds, and turned out to be a real legit NHLer, so to will Anders Lee

Logically speaking if we lose PA and his point production without any replacement plus have the same team, how are we any better?

Id expect a player who can make an impact NOW. a top 4 dman, or a top 6 forward.
- kindlyrick

I like Lee a lot, one of the prospects that I really look forward to getting under contract ASAP. But I think you're overvaluing him a little. Lee alone is definitely not bringing us back top 6/top 4 talent.

Very True!!! if you dont replace him, the islanders WILL BE at a disadvantage but mostly because they would be playing with a 2 man line.....

what does that mean?!?? they dont replace him??? you said "logically speaking" right??

Strome, Nino, Nelson, likely Lee, deHaan, and Donovan all carry good-to-significant value. As does a #4 pick. A few roster players that we can afford to part with carry varying levels of value.

I'm not against parting with assets, not even significant ones. Not with the current state of our prospect pool. A year or two ago was a totally different story. We either didn't have enough prospects to part with the good ones, or we didn't get a chance to see the value of who we did have.

- eichiefs9

It will be interesting to see how this off season plays out. The problem I have is the prospects we have that I consider valuable and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say most teams would probably agree we'd be stupid to part with unless there is a signifigant return. I don't think other teams value Lee, Donovan and even Nino/DeHaan as much as you guys do? I could be wrong admittedly and hope I am but I really don't think so.

No this is true because whatever plug they will replace him with would still mean it is only a two man line.

For a team looking to dump salary, Anders Lee is the perfect answer.

I hear what you're saying but you were saying "It is nearly impossible to sign or trade for guys like that. The only way to get a superstar d-man is to draft and develop them."
I was saying that someone like Jack Johnson can be aquired through trade. Carter and Columbus' first round pick went for him. No the isles dont have a Jeff Carter type, but im pretty certain, Okposo, and this years first rounder, would get a legit top tier dman.

- kindlyrick

The pick went from LA to CBJ in the Johnson/Carter deal, not the other way around. I agree that a d-man can be had for KO and our #4 overall. But no offense, if its not a top-pair guy, young and signed to a long-term deal coming to the Isles, i'm not interested in trading a package including our #4 overall pick

For a guy that hasn't even sniffed the NHL? They'd have to have a player to fill the guys spot they traded while Lee was developing.

Murray doesn't project to be an elite player. He will undoubtedly be a very good NHL'er, but he looks to be more of a #3 defenseman than that elite first-defenseman-picked mold that has been around in recent years. Not a knock on him in any way though, he'll be good. Just not a stand-out, cant-miss talent. Guys like Dumba and Rielly probably have more upside but also carry significantly more risk. With Murray you pretty much know what you're going to get.
- eichiefs9

I've read in some places that Murray is projected to be a top-pair guy. Does that mean Shea Weber, Drew Doughty or Nick Lidstrom? Absolutely not. But a level below or at worst a #2 d-man is just fine by me.

I meant that.......my brain is fried from work.

Im not saying trade the pick and KO for a has been "name". Im talking about a top 2 guy who can suit up this season and contribute.

I think he better after stating he would, the question is who is getting traded and for whom? We might get to see if Snow is actually a GM or an overpaid scout?

I don't really know too many teams looking to dump one of their 6 best forwards or 4 best defensemen for salary purposes. Like I said, I love Lee and he looks like he should be good...but no team is going to dump someone of real value for a completely unproven guy. I don't think Hamonic would have gotten us that return without a single pro game under his belt either.

Well i will leave the mock trading to the people on here. Im not paid to do this, so im not going to start spending my time looking up players to aquire. Hopefully Snow does not feel the same as I do, and he actually does his "due diligence"
