I never go to the meet and greet, but this is exactly what ive been saying. I just hope that Garth isnt just talking the talk. Cause im getting really tired of paying year after year, and doing my share, when the organization continues to wallow in mediocracy - kindlyrick

my bad, i meant to say that if they get in to the playoffs and dont make it far it would still be considered a successful year (or at least i think so)...obviously more would be great.
i actually happen to think if they are competing all year and dont make it into the playoffs, its a lost year and unsuccessful (sorry, didnt mean to hang you out like that) - LetsGoIsles
Yes, I agree. Getting into the playoffs this coming season would be a step in the right diretion and a successful season, regardless of how far they go. |

right...thats why my boiling point with this team will come after this year...theyve been rebuilding and ive subscribed to it. im ok with garth not signing top guys, trading prospects for plugs and the 4-5 years of losing to restock. having said that, we're restocked and the prospects are spilling over; we almost need to trade some of these guys as were running out of places to put them. its time to put up or shutup for garth. this is the last season before poop hits the fan. - LetsGoIsles
Id love to see Garth start making moves at the draft. It has to be done.... |

You were floored? Really, had that kind of effect on you? I said it after his "meet and greet" and I'll say it again, I hope he does what he says. Maybe he'll suddenly turn into a GM? We'll see... - Cptmjl
Yes, I was quite surprised. I read comment after comment of people crying, whining and screaming like little girls who didn't get their way about how Snow hasn't made an impact trade. I assumed that linking an article that contained actual real-live quotes from Snow (paraphrasing here) acknowledging that we a) now have the organizational depth to trade for an impact player b) lack a true 2nd line center c) have a need for another top-4 defenseman would illicit some sort of response. |

I posted a link to this entire article yesterday and frankly was floored that not a single person who cries and screams about the lack of trades day-in day-out said a word. - eichiefs9
Can you re post that article please? |

They cant sign UFAs, regardless of what they are offering. We've seen it how many summers in a row now.
Youre saying trade prospects and not the pick? Is the 4th overall selection not going to be a prospect? Seems to me you're basing your argument on which "prospect" you like better. Doesnt take away from the fact that the isles MUST add legit NHL talent via trade. Noones gonna want, Robbie Russo, for a top 3 dman. We all know you gotta give to get.
This year the isles will only have 3 dman signed, but you are going to have DeHaan, Donovan, and Katic possibly making the team. Add to that Hamonic. and AMAC and thats 5 guys on d all drafted by the isles. The isles have the prospects...........they need to add by trading. - kindlyrick
It doesn't have to be Robbie Russo. There's a middle ground between #4 overall and Robbie Russo. I know people love Nelson and Anders Lee, maybe they're chips for a trade? The Isles are pretty deep down the middle organizationally. I just think that Murray is going to fall into their laps at #4 and passing on a top flight "D" prospect like him, with all the positive character and intelligence accolades he's been receiving as well, is a big mistake. It is nearly impossible to sign or trade for guys like that. The only way to get a superstar d-man is to draft and develop them. |

You think this team is mediocre. I'd be hard pressed to call a team that has picked in the top five for four years in a row mediocre. Mediocre teams squeeze into the playoffs or fall out in March. Their season isn't over in december/january. What I'm trying to say is we suck. Mediocre is not a good adjective. |

i think most would agree that youre being a bit dramatic when you consider PA Parenteau the answer to your prayers.
if youre saying its a failed season if he doesnt sign with the isles this coming year than explain why the team actually "failed" (ill take the liberties and assume most would agree) with him ON the team this year? - LetsGoIsles
If we have the same team minus his points and the chemistry he had with JT how do we finish better than last year? We need to re sign him plus add more players to make this team better. |

agreed...in the right deal, id be more than ok with them trading the 4 pick. i just feel in any package the islanders can put together; the #4 pick has more value to other teams than just about anyone on our team not named JT, Hamonic, Strome, Nino, (MAYBE) Dehaan. |

“We now have enough assets where we can move pieces to make the team better now through trades. That wasn’t the case a few years ago," said Garth Snow in his meet and greet with season ticket holders last week.
He continued this sentiment in response to another question about improving the second line center position, despite having Frans Nielsen signed to a fresh four-year contract extension:
"That said, if we can pick up a dynamic offensive talent and lessen his - LetsGoIsles[Nielsen's] minutes, we will do that. As for your other point, we need a top 4. They are hard to acquire, but as noted we do finally have the assets to acquire one of those players.”
If Garth follows through that is great. Garth and Charles have to understand it will only help them having a good team. Whether they go to Broklyn, Quebec, or stay on LI. Better team means more leverage. |

In a sense the Islanders and you are agreeing with me. Janikowski is an incredible talent as we were told, don't think he was fired? Somewhere along the lines of the sketchiness that is going on with Sudsy. He was doing well scouting for Garth Snow, right? Where is he? Sudsy was great, remember? Where is he? Capuano has failed miserably not only at this level but in the AHL, where is he? Whats your point? - Cptmjl
i dont really follow what youre saying but i was showing how you said just yesterday "If there is one team you never have to be fearful of losing your job due to failure it would be the NY Islanders” today you said “everyone is abandoning ship” but no, they aren’t….they are all being fired!! youre refusing to realize the reality of the situation. |

Thats not true. Just this past year, Jack Johnson was traded. Its definitely doable, its just a matter of when Garth decides its time to do so. To me, Anders Lee should be untouchable. From what I saw at prospect camp, he's exactly what the isles dont have. He's a true power forward.
I will admit im not up on the draft prospects, but without any knowledge of anyone, i still say the isles are better off right now, adding NHL talent.......top 3 dman, and possibly a top line winger to play with JT. Adding those two things, with the additions of DeHaan, Donovan, Katic, and maybe a UFA signing, the isles should make the playoffs. |

If Murray is available at 4 the Isles better be getting a special dman if they are trading the #4 in a package. |
