No worries, thanks.
I guess one of us thinks they are fabulous! - Daman
I wasn't taking a shot at MJL. I don't always agree with him but he generally knows his poop.
I'm just glad somebody has it all figured out. I certainly don't.

I'm ok with Coburn and Grossmann leading the way and Timmo and Carle taking up minutes. Mez on the third is nice. Coburn can be a beast.
Let Timmo get his rest. We'll be fine. Its about the end of the year anyway. - Daman
Richie does his best flip the switch impression this year. |

Just to clarify my statement of having it all figured out. Specifically, I have no idea what they're going to do. But I do know that the Flyers will try and improve their team. And the chances of them not making some kind of move? Slim to none. |

Enstrom is absolutely in the same class of player as Suter is. Without a doubt. In your plan your looking for Suter to be the savior. You'd be disappointed. Suter would help on the PP, and add a threat there. But regardless if Timonen went down, the same issue would be there. - MJL
Suter will in no way be a savior. However he will take up minutes more effectively than Carle.
A team with Suter compared to a team with Carle is a better team.
Carle is what he is, a miracle worker. However the time has come to upgrade. |

Suter is a better player then Carle. But he's not 2M better. If you can get Suter for 5.5-6M without getting into a long term 10 year front loaded deal, I'm all for it. But is that possible?
And Suter isn't that good of a player to overcome the loss of Timonen versus if Carle was here instead. The difference between Suter and Carle isn't that great.

However, a team with Carle and another decent defenseman we can afford is better than a team with Suter and a scrub because we couldn't afford anyone else.

That is where a package involving JVR and Subban comes in. Clears the space for Suter to begin with.
I hate that Jagr is going to take up probably around 3 million. |

Maybe, but Jagr brings so much to the table. He is worth it for more than just his production in my opinion.

Everyday I read this blog (and THANK YOU BILL for that, it is awsome and basically my exclusive source for Flyers news) and most all of the postings (though I only occasionally chime in) and all of the fantasy scenerios of getting a Webber or Suter etc-----the more I think about it, i am totally fine if we resign #68, #25 and #93 and not rip our roster apart. I think we have an excellent core of young talent. If we stay healthy and gel at the right time, the sky is the limit next year. - FlyersFirst

In terms of Jagr I think a veteran like that is a great thing for a team. Just wish it was closer to around 1.5 - 2 millon.
Like Guerin was for Pittsburgh. Never hurts to have enough guys like that.
Suter is not worth that money. In no way close.
Thats where smart drafting would be a god-send. However the Flyers seem to want to buy their #1 d-men. You have to overpay. |

You're location states: "the bringer of pain and death". With such an array of talents, would you inlclude salary cap assessments as an additional talent? If so, I am both impressed and humbled. |

No.
Just some personality. Can always continue to talk about Carle. However to me that gets boring as nails, so there is a transititon to a new topic. |

Well the blog is about Carle. And it is reality to talk about Carle being back with the team next year. But as always, the conversation goes where it goes.

If Polie (I know big "if") gets the impression from the Weber camp, he will not sign an extension, does Poile move him at the draft, or hold onto him into next year? I would assume Poile would get a lot more in return in a few weeks, then keeping him until next year.
My opinion he either signs a long-term extension before the season or is traded in a couple of weeks. |

Suter's is a more viable long-term replacement for Timonen, though, and that's ultimately what we're talking about if they decide to move heaven and earth to make a run at him. Carle is a complimentary guy, not so much an anchor you'd want to tie your ship to.
Honestly, though, I would be surprised if Suter leaves Nashville, and if he does, he probably doesn't get out of the Central Division.

When Kimmo was acquired, he was a bona fide #1 d-man at the time. Of course, some years later he isn't that player, but can certainly be an effective 2nd pairing d-man. As good as Suter has been in his career, I don't believe he is viewed as a clear cut #1. However, is it because he plays next to a top-tier stud in Weber, or is he just a better overall version then Carle? I'm not sure what the answer is to the question about Suter. Of course, the guy I move mountains to acquire is Weber. |

I don't agree. If your thinking that Suter is a replacement for a #1 defenseman, I think you'll be disappointed. Suter is an upgrade over Carle, and gives you a PP QB. Suter is also a complimentary guy. And not an anchor to tie your ship to. But the biggest difference is that you'll have to pay Suter as though he is that anchor. So who's the better value. The difference between Suter and Carle isn't that big.
