The insurance is paid by the NHL, not it's individual clubs. - Jsaquella
From what I'd read teams were required by the league to insure their top players. |

If you know you can't get Cole signed at the end of this season, you get everyone's best offer and take what you can get. Because you can't just let him walk for nothing. - bodiva88
Exactly. |

They are, but it's paid through the NHL. It's one company that handles it, aand the CBA sets it through the league, not teams. They all pay into the pool. |

He is. They either have to sign him, or get a boatload in return. No middle ground. |

Mariners are one out away from a combined no hitter...6 different pitchers, would tie MLB record |

Matt Gelb @magelb
Dodgers sweep Phillies and then are no-hit by six Mariners pitchers, with the last outs recorded by a bartender. Sounds right.
Yep, there's your Phillies |

They did blow a call at first base in the 9th inning. Dee Gordon hit a ball to short and he should have been called safe. |

I'd be stunned if Couturier was traded for anybody, in any deal - Jsaquella
Saywhat you will, but Coots straight up for Weber is beyond no brainer. The question would be what else?
Coots Coburn and Read. What you do that? |

Yes, but Couturier for Weber's not exactly likely.
I'd probably do the second one. Again, I doubt Nashville would. |

Okay. Found it. If I were an insurance company, I wouldn't go for that deal. |

I would do it. Coots for Weber is highly unlikely.
Saw Al Meltzer tonight. Was a gentleman, selling his book.

There are certainly many possibilities to play out, but the first domino which really impacts the Flyers is where does Suter sign? If resigns in Nashville, the odds of Weber staying greatly increase, if he leaves then the silly season really begins.
Personally, I believe if Jagr does resign a young forward is going. - ravishingone
I think I would lean toward agreeing with your last sentiment.
