It's not impossible. He could wake up tomorrow and be symptom free. That's the problem with the damned things, you never really know until the symptoms go away. - Jsaquella
I know, it sucks. However, when the trade was made, I applauded Homer for doing the deal and I still have no regrets. |

Phillies are in trouble. They need to make some changes. Can't be afraid to take a step backwards. |

I have to look at it from the worst possible scenario, that he is done. The Flyers need to move on at this point. Now if by some "Miracle" he is able to play again that will be a bonus but what will he have left in the tank at that point? - stveshdy
That's why I'm sure Homer has already called Poile and said anyone outside of G and Coots, let's start talking parameters to acquiring Weber. Honestly, I think the Flyers are more likely to acquire Weber this offseason then Suter, and I know that sounds strange. |

As do I. It was a ballsy move, and it's not as if Pronger is missing time with nagging, "body breaking down" type stuff. Broken wrist, concussion. He had a back issue, but as we've seen with Meszaros, that's not necessarily an age injury. |

Doesn't sound strange to me. Weber has made it known that he won't commit there unless the organization is willing to commit to winning. It never hurts to make the phone call and see. The Flyers would be willing to trade for Weber thats a guarantee. Also, it would not shock me at all if Homer traded Couturier to acquire Weber. I really believe that G is the only untouchable on this roster. |

Homer was willing to bring Meszy and his $4 million cap hit as a 5th defensemen with Pronger, Kimmo, Coburn (I think he was making $3 million at the time), and Carle at $3.5 million. So I don't think they mind that type of cap hit on a third pairing. As far as Kimmo's replacement as the #1 d-man, agreed Schenn isn't the guy. However, acquiring Schenn as an asset who can improve the team this year with Kimmo on the roster is not necessarily a bad thing if a Weber, Bogosian, Seabrook, etc aren't available.
As far as a trade for Schenn, somehow I would try and put together a package involving a young forward (obviously not G or Coots) and somehow trade spots with Toronto in the first round. My scenerio I have written is certainly highly unlikely, but Burke may be impatient. - ravishingone
But that's part of the point. I'm not trading a young Forward for a defenseman to play on the 3rd pair. If I'm trading a top young Forward, it's to get a top pairing defenseman as part of a package. I'm not going to waste that asset on a defensive defenseman.

My main reason for including Coots is because of the following:

When the chairman feels you're going to be a star just below G, I would be suprised if he was dealt. |

Understandable. The kid has plenty of potential and could be a superstar. However, a player like Weber doesnt come along very often. Forwards imo are much easier to find then defenseman. |

I totally understand. I just believe a player like Weber doesn't come around often. Weber is in his prime (elite/franchise defenseman) and forwards are much easier to replace imo. I'm not suggesting to trade Couturier but I would understand it if the deal was made. |

There are certainly many possibilities to play out, but the first domino which really impacts the Flyers is where does Suter sign? If resigns in Nashville, the odds of Weber staying greatly increase, if he leaves then the silly season really begins.
Personally, I believe if Jagr does resign a young forward is going. |

I think that Couturier is a deal breaker. Especially when you consider that it would be a package...I can't see the Flyers trading Couturier, even in a Weber deal. |

If Pronger retires, the team doesn't pay him, and the team carries the cap hit. - Jsaquella
You think pronger will leave 19m on the table....he may be "retired" but he isn't going to retire if u know what I mean.....LTIR for next few years |

Hard to argue that. I've said it before that JvR, Mez, and picks would be where the Flyers start imo. |

If I'm Nashville, I want JvR, Schenn and 2 1st rounders. |

I would think Nashville would want a top 4 d-man back especially with the assumption Suter has signed somewhere else. Unless Weber really doesn't want to be in Nashville no matter if Suter does resign, I would think a d-man has to be part of the package. |

Thats a big payment. I would be more inclined to give JvR, Voracek and 2 1st rounders. I would prefer to give Mez back though. |

Nashville drafts a lot of very good defensemen every year. With the cap releif from Suter and Weber, they could also move for another defenseman |

Very true, this draft really has the possibility of being just crazy especially with Detroit's cap space added into the mix. |

It's not a matter of him screwing the Flyers. It was a discussion of whether or not Pronger's contract could be dealt to a team that wanted dead cap space to reach the salary floor.
I have little doubt that if no changes to the over 35 provisions of the CBA are made, or if made and exclude guys like Pronger, that he'll stay on LTIR for the duration of his contract and retire like Ian Laperriere is expected to after the Final.
Also, LTIR DOES kind of screw the Flyers. They have to count for his salary this summer when considering FA's and trades
