That's not an arbitrary opinion - it's a statistic from the NHL.
When he was injured, he was "out with injury". That was for 22 games total (the Leafs played 22 games when Komi was not on the active roster).
He was on the active roster for 60 games, meaning he was healthy enough to play in 60 of them. But for 15 of them, the coach thought that he had 6 better defenceman who he wanted on the ice.
Once again, sorry. - Atomic Wedgie
I stand corrected and can admit that. Thank you for pointing that out.
Part of the point that I was trying to make was that even if Komisark was cleared after 22 games, I believe that the Leafs healthy scratched Komisarek not because "he sucked", but because there was no rush for him to return to the line-up given the Leafs depth on D. If he was needed he could play, but why not give the guy some extra for reconditioning etc.?

Since the collapse, it just seems like that Burke want to push the panic button to keep his job. - A_Tree
It's all media and speculation related. We dodn't know that Burke's panicking at all. Maybe he's quite confident that he can get what he needs to adjust the teams direction next year. Or subsequently, maybe he knows it's an uphill battle. One thing I personally don't expect, is for him to go buck and get rid of all our assets for over the hill players...
One of the few eps of Family Guy that I rate as being as good as The Simpsons. - GuyLaDouche
The Simpsons has been terrible for the last bunch of seasons in my opinion. But there was nothing like The Simpsons in its prime. It was an absolutely hilarious show with solid plots per episode.

Except that he was scratched because he sucked. His ice time showed that. As did all the errors he would frequently make.

You can't hang your hat on it because they're verbs. Hence the term, you can't hang your hat on it. It means it's something that isn't of substance. - Unholy_Goalie
I hang my hat on a rack... You should hang your hat too you know? It's proper manners. Especially when you go to someone's house as a guest... - PTVinnyMac
my hat always ends up behind the damn shoe rack tho...or the wife throws it in the front entrance closet and gets lost amidst the other clothes/crap so I never take it off....its better that way.

I love how Simmons, a notoriously outspoken Burke-hater, is now defending him in light of his "close demise". He's blaming the blogosphere, and goes on saying
"From word of mouth it makes its way to Twitter or a blog or somewhere where the principles of journalism are not exhibited."
Good one Sim, I'm glad you hold responsible journalism close to heart.

So, you actually don't need to hang your hat on anything then, do you?

I have to disagree. He obviously didn't hit the panic last year when both Carter and Richards were offered to him. He passed on Carter and while "thinking about Richards" hhaha (reading that is funny) he missed out. Very few would've thought that we had the assets to acquire Mike Richards, but Philly asked and we could've accepted.
It shows that he doesn't panic and hit the button.
If anything, the addition of either Staal or Statsny (I'd prefer Statsny) would be a significant leap forward for the team. Essentially, you'd have your Marc Savard centre for Kessel, without the concussion. At 26, he'd potentially be a Leaf for a long time.
I'm assuming an overpayment that people would not like would involve Kulemin (because everyone loves him), Franson, top prospect (Kadri, Biggs, Percy), and a pick.
