Nor does yours. I'm sure interested GMs have their own values attached to potential acquisitions, and many have shown in the past they're willing to take risks with plan B, than pay through the nose for all the risks associated with plan A. - p_zub
I never gave my opinion on Luongo, other than saying what he won't go for...
And since the Leafs don't have a 3rd round pick at this point (which was part of the proposal I originally responded to), it's a fact, not an opinion. |

Forsberg? the guy that had like all of 18 goals last year - bobbyisno1
It was 17 points in 43 games in one of their top professional leagues.
Pretty impressive actually for a 17 year old playing in a pro hockey league that primarily consists of men in their hockey prime.
When matched against people his own age, Forsberg is over a PPG player. They moved him up a league due to his skills.
EDIT FYI, when Daniel Sedin was moved into the SEL, he scored 12 points in 45 games. I'm not comparing the two to say Forsberg is that elite. I'm simply saying that moving to a mens league when you're that young, and given limited minutes, your output will be different than it would be over her in our junior leagues |

If they will take Komi and the 5th for the 4th..... do it, and try and swap the 4th with Columbus for the 2nd, if possible.
Then Galchenyuk is ours - cor99
Exactly my thoughts.
It seems likely that the Islanders are "the team" that is willing to trade down the Leafs at the the moment. I also think that the Blue Jacks would be a little hesitant to trade down to the 5th given the draft possibilities. However, I also think that the 4th overall gives the Blue Jackets more options at both forward AND defense positions and leaves their options wide open.
That Burke makes two trades to move up into the 2nd overall draft position:
Trade #1 with NYI: To NYI - 5th overall + Komisarek and maye late pick or lower tier prospect <-> To TOR - 4th overall
Trade #2 with CLB: To CLB - 4th overall + ??? <-> To TOR - 2nd overall
The question now is, what is the "+" from Toronto in the trade with Columbus?
Assuming that Burke is successful in these two trades, the top 5 might look somthing like this:
1. Edm. - Yakupov (Clearly the top prospect and obvious choice)
2. Tor. - Galchenyuk (Potential #1C, has size and Burke loves his American's)
3. Mtl. - Grigorenko > Forsberg (Needs a #1C as well, plays in "the Q", could just as easily go with Forsberg here)
4. Clb - Forsberg > Murray > Grigorenko (Shy of Russian's, fills Nash's W)
5. NYI - Murray > Grigorenko > Forsberg > any other D-man (Need D, BPA)
Note: Players underlined are who I think the teams are leaning towards picking.
Players listed in order of interest
By the looks of things all top 5 teams would be able to draft exactly what they needed and 3-5 would all have solid options for their picks.
As fun as it would be to speculate on a 3rd trade with Edmonton, I really don't think that's realistic because I think that these trades would likely happen after Edmonton has made their 1st pick, Yakupov.
Thoughts?...

Just thinking...
If we were to swap picks with the Islanders, does that make it more attractive for Columbus to trade down with us? - cor99
I think I've just answered your question, see above ^ |

Sorry, I disagree. I've stated all along that the Canucks will likely have to take an undesirable salary back in order to get something of value, but Lou won't be just a salary dump.
edit: cap-space is useless when there are no quality UFA's to fill it. |

see i dont see the logic in that..
why would you move a useful player like luongo, who has a hefty hit, but not overly burdensome for a player who has the same hit but is being moved because he severely underachieves?
if i were the nucks, i'd just hang onto luongo, at least that way you get good play for the money you spend. |

Islanders aren't taking Komisarek, especially not while trading down.Blue Jackets won't take our 5th "+" because if anything the price would be too much "+++". If anything both aforementioned teams will look to trade up if possible.
Leafs should stick with what they have. Draft a goalie in the second round. Bobs your uncle. |

Vasilevski - Do it Burke.
STATISTICS
SEASON TEAM LEAGUE GP GAA MIN SO SV%
2010-2011 UFA 2 RUSSIA-JR. 14 1.81 730 3 0.937
2011-2012 UFA 2 RUSSIA-JR. 27 2.23 1477 3 0.931
“Vasilevskiy is a terrific athlete with very good biomechanics. His balance points and strong core allow him to seal the ice with a very wide, but very powerful butterfly. This is going to make him look extremely attractive to many NHL teams. The word will spread and he will be highly touted.”
Exceedingly self-assured, Vasilevski exudes the kind of poise teams are looking for in a number one netminder. When one adds in his plus frame and superlative athleticism, it’s going to be hard for many franchises hurting for that elusive top-flight starter to pass on Vasilevski.
His aggressive tendencies to challenge shooters give him the ability to use his size to eclipse nearly the entire net when he so chooses. As a butterfly goaltender, Vasilevski’s athleticism and form are under intense scrutiny from scouts – and he’s passed with flying colors on both accords.
He stays big when in the butterfly and is able to remain powerful with quick, strong lateral movements and excellent balance. With the quickness (both on his feet and with his hands) to deny first and second-chance opportunities and excellent economy of motion plus rebound management, it’s a surprise he’s not more highly rated than he is.

only a few can offer the bonus money that the Leafs can - bobbyisno1
If (and by if, I mean when) the Leafs, or any other team signs Schultz, it will be to an entry level contact, meaning there are restrictions and limits to the amount of bonuses.
So the Leafs really don't have any advantage here. |

It's Friday, why you gotta be like that?
Many, many teams would love to have Komisarek. Veteran presence, great in the dressing room, and most importantly, he's a fantastic asset to have if you need to reach the salary cap floor.
