There was some JvR for Schenn talk during the year. If that's a wash, then it comes down to Bobo and the 20th pick for the 5th. That's not a good deal for TO, IMHO. - 77rams
I think the JvR for Schenn talk involved the Flyers getting more than Schenn. |

I was gifted a copy of a new album that's not to be released til Tuesday. Early music is the best kind, so I'm in sort of a good mood.

so the majority of the team (players) has indicated they would like to see Jagr back...and you saw how much the team grew and the chemistry was great, you choose not to resign him because Players should not make decisions?
i understand both side of the coin and it seems it's mostly money driven with people saying they don't want him on the team.
I truly beleive homer will do what is right for the TEAM and will manage the cap accordingly. |

Which UFA veteran do you sign?
Ryan Smyth? Daymond Langkow? Shane Doan?
The only guys on the UFA list that appeals to me are Ray Whitney and Teemu Selanne, who are both over 40 years old and likely will cost around $3mm |

I'm not saying the players dont want him back. Players are willing to speak up and stick up for teammates all the time. Do they like Jagr of course, why wouldnt they? However the Flyers are running a team and Homer has to do whats best for that team. Signing Jagr might be whats best for the team and will soon find out but I'm not a fan of a player demanding to be in top line roles without earning it. Could he possibly start the season off in that role? Sure. However, if there are other players who earn that spot then Jagr will have to understand and take a backseat to that. |

I would say players help make decisions all the time.
Id be willing to bet if a bunch of guys went to Homer... say G, Hartnell, Briere, etc. and said, "Listen Homer... somethings gotta give with the way Lava has been doing things".. he would listen... It doesnt mean that they are making the decision, but that they are offering advice from the people who are working directly with this person.
If your boss is thinking about hiring someone you know and like, and you say.. I would love to have them on staff.. they have helped me grow as a worker, and improve all around, would your boss not consider that? |

I don't have a list of players in front of me. There are other ways to get good locker room guys other than signing free agents. |

Your making it sound like the guy was not effective. He was as effective as Leino was the year before, but the youth like having him around. Who knows maybe G only scores 70 points without Jagr pushing him?

I agree. You take that input and store it. However, we all know its a business and the Flyers still have to roster a team that they feel is good enough to win. I'm not saying Jagr doesnt do that, Im just suggesting that they look at other options also. |

I never said he wasnt effective. I am stating that its great he is a good locker room guy and leader on/off the ice. I just want the Flyers to look at other options also. I just think that money can be used elsewhere when this team has other needs first imo.
Your making sound like Jagr is the only reason Giroux played well. |
