Just drinking coffee boys!

Pegula thinks big, trust me. I love the draft talk, but Miller isn't getting any younger.

There will be a big move(s)

I know I would be. I've been calling for them to take him for 2 months now.

Broke Stamkos's Rookie scoring record. About matched his ppg pace in his Draft year. Yakupov had the superior WJC during his Draft year compared to Stamkos.

Maybe Pat Kane or Ovechkin is a better comp as wingers. Regardless, he is going to be damn good.

I'm just going off what I heard from people that pay more attention to the draft than I do. Yakupov most likely going to be a very good player, I realize. But personally if I'm trading up for the first overall pick it better be for a center.

You saying this as a "hockey" fan, or a leafs fan?

Bit of a double standard.

TOUGH LIKE KESSEL...

This is Vancouvers guy

- Whiskey-Tango

Guy skates too well to be Vancouver's guy.

Scouting notes:
Samuelsson is not a biter and has no idea how to do a Kessler-like barrel roll tumble. Needs alot of work on his diving to fit in with a team like Vancouver. Would fit better in the East, most likely playing right behind Marcus Foligno in Buffalo.

Galchenyuk will probably be more valuable than Myers in the end too, if it makes you feel better.

Pretty long, but a good read to get a feel for the names that we might want to watch for at the draft

I'd rather take someone witch top 6 forward or top 4 d-man upside. He sounds like a good prospect, but I just prefer the payers with higher potential even if it is a boom or bust type pick.

Brian Huddle: With the Twenty-First Pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Buffalo Selects...

- Brian Huddle

Brendan Gaunce (C) - Belleville (OHL) - 6'2", 215 lbs

I big bodied, NorthAmerican, playmaking center. Great work ethic.

A guy who tallied 68 points in 68 games last year.

Honestly, if the Sabres don't move up and he's still there at 12, that's who I want them to take.

I'm not convinced that there will be any moves to make. The only one that I see is potentially swapping firsts with Carolina for Roy. Maybe Carolina throws in a 3rd next year. If something like that went down, then I could potentially see the Sabres making a move into the top 5 using an asset like Pysyk, Brennan or McNabb, or 21st overall. Maybe moving up to 4. What say you Sabres fans?
Out: Roy, 12th, Pysyk or 21st
In: 4th overall, mid round pick(2012 or 2013)

Too much to give up?

Is it worth it even if the top 3 go Yakupov, Galchenyuk, Forsberg?

Personally, I don't think so. If you can guarantee yourself one of those guys, then yeah, it might be worth if, but if you end up looking at Murray, Reilly and Grigorenko there, then I think it's too much.

I know people talk about the Sabres having a deep system of D prospects, but McNabb and Pysyk are the only sure fire NHLers in the system. That doesn't sound deep to me. I'd prefer they kept Pysyk, Trade Roy for a 2nd, and use all their draft picks. Restock the system. They have had a grand total of 3 top 60 picks over the last three drafts. Granted, they did well with McNabb and Foligno in the 3rd/4th in '09, and presumably with Sundher and Leduc in the 3rd in '10 and Catennacci in the 3rd in '11, but they could use an influx of talent in the system all around.

I appreciate that Pegula let's Darcy be more aggressive, but I'd rather that means that Darcy can be aggressive in building the system out from the draft. Risk a down season in the pursuit of a complete roster. That kind of thing.

A hard-working, big-bodied, 2nd line centerman.

Gaunce is your classic, old school, two-way Cadnaidan throwback.

If he's the next David Backes (St. Louis), he's a perfect compliment to Ennis and Hodgson. I could easily see those guys being a great young trio of centers to grow with.

Gaunce won't last past Calgary at 14. Samuelsson will look great in the Blue and gold. He and Foligno will put fear in the opposition.
