Brian, I saw that you had Galchenyuk slated as 1st overall in your rankings.

What do you think it would take to trade up to the, let's say number 2 spot, to get him?
Or even number 1 considering that Edmonton needs D much more than forward help.

A lot.

Columbus wants a young face of the franchise to sell tickets, and Edmonton wants a franchise defender. From a Buffalo perspective it likely starts with someone like Vanek for that 2nd, or Myers for that 1st. It's a hard deal to make because it's on potential.

I don't CBJ trades that pick unless they are getting a young franchise player. Vanek only has two year left and makes a lot of cash. I look at Seguin as what Howson would want. Someone with some entry-level left and someone that they will own the rights to for at least 5 more years.

You would be surprised at the amount of Buffalo fans that would trade Myers for Galchenyuk.

This would maybe be a good time to get Myers as he seems to have declined a bit since his rookie year. Injuries are an obvious large part but I wouldn't be opposed to tradig for him. Just don't know about 1st overll....

Honestly I wouldnt want to make the trade Myers for the 1st overall. Maybe if it was another year where Yakupov isnt the best player but not this year. Too much risk for not that much of a gain IMO.

You have to think about it that's for sure.

He had a bad year, but the whole team under performed. I'd be quite tempted to make the deal as I think he has the ability to be a #1. How much of Myers bad year is attributed to his broken wrist? Look at Hemsky had shoulder surgery and didn't play all that well for the Oilers this year, but once he went to the WC he looked like he was finally healthy and was quite a player.

How many highly rated forwards are there every year in the draft and that are available?

How many D men like Myers are around, with that size and skill, and that young age?
Yes, his contract is $5M.
He will be worth his contract this season, and be big value after that.

How many #1 Overall picks are there each year? One.

I guess you have to ask if you would trade Myers straight up for Stamkos or Tavares. This is the level that Yakupov is on.

5.5 which makes him roughly in the top 15 for d-men.

He by no means is a bargain or worth that right now. It's not a bad contract to have though.

I heard Hall, Seguin, RNH weren't very good either.

Broke Stamkos's Rookie scoring record. About matched his ppg pace in his Draft year. Yakupov had the superior WJC during his Draft year compared to Stamkos.

Maybe Pat Kane or Ovechkin is a better comp as wingers. Regardless, he is going to be damn good.

Kane played center all year. Yes, his point total was the lowest of his career, but only by like 4 pts. I like that Kane has the ability to score the big goal. Right now, you don't know if Yakupov will do that. I feel like Ovi doesn't do that as often as he should.

Kane won't be center again next year from what I gather. And his production was down quite a bit. He was a PPG in 10-11 with 73 in 73 gp. Last year he was 66 in 82 games, so that's like 16 points difference.

The main difference for that is that he was only at a 42% for faceoffs. Toews wins just shy of 60%. It's a lot harder to score when you have to fight to get the puck back during a shift instead of just having it on your stick already. His production this year wasn't bad considering that he was asked to play out of position.

Our amazing sports talk radio hosts schopp and the bulldog point out that winning faceoffs is not important so therefore because you think opposite of them you are wrong.

A small number of impact forwards available each year at draft. Like... 3, maybe 4.

And very few of those even turn out.

Just drinking coffee boys!

Pegula thinks big, trust me. I love the draft talk, but Miller isn't getting any younger.

There will be a big move(s)
