Why would Shero even bother including Vancouver in on a 3 way deal? - Gunner Staal
You'll have to ask Ian. It's a ludicrous offer to say the least.
edit- and obviously Higgins is the centerpiece of this deal, that's why we need Van. |

I enjoy Travis' trade wars blogs, at least they are based in logic. |

I would do Travis' proposal from a Penguins perspective. One of the few trades involving Staal that I can say that about. |

I don't think Phoenix would though, there is no shot Staal would resign there. OEL is a really good player. |

I agree, I don't think they would either. Truthfully, I would pull the trigger on that even without Vrbata being included, that's how highly I think of OEL. |

that kid seems like the real deal. i understand we dont need more defensemen, but he is going to be a heck of a player. if we have to lose staal, regardless of need, he alone is quite a haul. he could probably be moved for a ton, or some other defensive part moved. that being said, i cannot see the yotes parting with him. |

So David Jones signs a 4yr 16 mil deal with the AVS hes never put up more than 45 pts and last yr 37 pts and missed only 10games. Staal is worth 6-7mil/yr easy. |

OEL is going to be very good. Phoenix would be nuts to trade him. I think, if Staal to Phoenix happens (it won't), but I'd start with Boedker and go from there.

Setoguchi is only fractionally better than Kennedy. 36, 41, 36 are Setoguchi's last 3 seasons for points with 22 goals as his high. Your boy Dupuis is way better than him. |

So, you want to trade one of the best two way forwards in the game and a 15-goal scorer for one of the most overrated players in the league (Seto) and a guy that only hits (Clutterbuck)? I love Clutterbuck, but this doesn't help much.

Seto is atleast a top 6 forward and paired with sid his numbers will increase. Clutter will help withgrit and a top 10pick could get us a decent winger prospect...
But i hear carolina is going to give the most for staal.... |

I really like the idea of having Setoguchi and Clutterbuck on the Pens. Those are two pieces that "we can keep" (salary wise) on our team..complimentary players.
I don't know what Carolina is offering but I'd be cool with the idea of at least getting Sutter/Gleason/pick. Skinner would be even better. |

I'm sorry but no way can you justify paying 6-7mil for a 3rd line center while the best player in the world has Dupuis as a winger. |

Got to be honest, not enthused about what Carolina has to offer.

Edmonton makes no sense unless they are trading the top pick, which I think they should. They aren't really helping their glaring weaknesses by drafting Nail.
Columbus - I DON'T see a match. There really is nothing in the farm system and outside of two guys on the major league roster, there isn't a match.
Minnesota - only one guy interests me and its Clutterbuck. That said, I don't do a Staal for Clutterbuck and a first. Setogucchi doesn't interest me.
The teams I see a match - Phoenix, Chicago, Nashville, STL and maybe Winnipeg. |
