Jesus man, Shhhhhhhhhh. We actually might have a buyer for Raymond and you’re (frank)ing the deal up. What side of the fence do you play on?
- bloatedmosquito

If you were preaching corsi/Raymond to Burke, I would be %100 on your side of the fence.

Huddle is smarter than Burke, though.

You and me both. They have their purpose, but when somebody uses them to claim an ineffective player is an effective one, throw them out the door.
- Fosco

I think they can be indicative of things-- but they're essentially indicative of how a player played within a system/in a role/within a team. It doesn't tell me what the player is or what not.

I read an article by a guy who was a big Adv. Stats guy, and a well known writer, and he made a list of the "top 25 players under 25". On said list he had Bryan Little, but no John Tavares. I like Little, I grew up with Little here in Cambridge, and I still stay in contact with the guy... but COME ON!

Tavares is a "on his stick and off his stick" type player. Of course his possession numbers will look bad. He's still a top end player.

I couldn't care less about advanced stats. I was just being argumentative.
You must remember "The Corsi Controversy" here in Canuckland about 6 months ago. If you don't remember then that's a shame. It was fun!

Diminishing asset in that Bieksa isn't going to get better, but will start to decline in play. Players like Gardiner, or Adam Henrique, etc. are assets on the upswing who will be getting better before they hit their "peak" of what they are as a player. Just so we're on the same page.

If I'm in Gillis' spot, I'm sitting on a goalie asking out, who controls where he can and cant go with a small market of places available to wheel and deal with. Essentially, Gillis will be stuck taking the best of a couple offers if it's true that Luongo has demanded out.

Would I like it? No. But you never do when a players asks for a trade out and controls his destiny with a big contract and NTC.

- Brian Huddle

That is speculation of potential. You know who else had a lot speculation of potential .Edler. He had a bad year .Potential does not always mean success. If I had to start a playoff round next year and I had Edlers history and Bieksa's history to chose from ,I am taking Bieksa to the playoffs with me.

I remember this guy named Schenn ,every one in the league was singing high praises of the Next One. Hero to zero in 10 seconds flat. That is extreme but you get the idea you just can not use potential to build a team . You do need some actual experienced players.

IMO if Gardiner or the top 5th is not in the discussion, then we are wasting time, which is ok ,but there is nothing happening here.

I know. I'm well aware of your opinion of Raymond, so I was pretty sure you were BSing.

I just take every opportunity I can get to voice my criticism of the value of corsi.

I agree, potential doesn't mean success, but as an asset they're viewed as "on upswing" and value is indicative of that. It's why Top Picks are so valuable.

Rogers & Bell already have it, dude. My only demand is that they wipe all of my cell phone bill debt away.

Don't remind me

But in all seriousness, I like Burke, because of his desire to keep tough hockey alive. Anyone who's willing to do that is 'a-ok' in my book.

Sweet deal. Maybe you could pull a few strings for me. Last time I came back to Kitchener I ended up with a $1200 cell bill, calling the wife back in BC

Damn roaming charges...

I'll even let you put me down as a reference. The Fosco name holds a certain amount of sway.

I guess it boils down to ,we have something they need .The question becomes how much do they want it. No bad contracts back please. We can keep Lu as 1B for another year.

And that's fair. Everyone has different tastes.

I'm known to have a sweet spot for goons, pests and tough players. A lot of people won't those guys removed from hockey.

I still believe we need to take Ulf's son in the first round

He's skyrocketing up draftboards following his playoff performance, but I agree I would love to add Henrik Samuelsson if he were available

as long as he hasn't demanded out, then definitely. No need to rush until major changes need, he asks out, or cap room needed.

What does that have to do with anything? He said the CURRENT players on the Leafs roster can't seem to make the playoffs yet they are all untouchable with the exceptions being Armstrong Komy Lombardi and Connolly.

This.

People act like the Canucks absolutely need to move Luongo within the next 2 months. If the right offer isn't there, bring them both back for the start of the season. It would be a chaotic situation, but having two goalies of that caliber isn't the worst situation in the world.

Plus, you know that once the season starts, one or two unexpected teams will be having major problems with their goaltending. New trade partners will emerge.

If the Leafs want to continue their eternal drought without playoff hockey, so be it. Better hope Vokoun can carry a roster mostly consisting of one dimensional players, AHL scrubs, and prospects that are destined to be major busts.

Will do. Was just there in January, but I've got a nephew on the way, so I'll likely make another visit within the next year. Always try to catch at least one OHL game when I'm back.

Exactly At TDL there will be 4 or 5 teams fighting for a playoff spot with suspect goaltending.

I do think some GM will come to their senses before that ,but if not , be patient.

It would also give us time to see if Scneider pulls a Corey Crawford.
