If they are negotiating with him now, but don't feel like a deal can be made, can they trade his rights?

Yes, but it's a dicey proposition. I wrote an article about this very thing and Poile is a wizard at getting something for nothing. I truly hope we can re-sign Suter and Weber but money-wise it will sure make it very difficult to sign anyone else. Radulov and if we can keep him at a reasonable rate will be the lynch-pin in this whole thing if Suter and Weber re-sign long term. If Rads can be had for $3-4M per for 3-4 years then the Preds will have an elite forward at a reasonable rate so we can get some good free agent help (fingers crossed PA Parenteau).

GO PREDS!!!!!!!!!!!

If media concerns are truly as important to him as you say, he should head to Socal. Hell, we have a team in the SCF and the local media can't even get the logo for the Kings correct.

The only way Suter re-signs with Nashville is if he is willing to take less money. I've heard the offer might approach $10 mil per season. Maybe the Preds can pay that but if they intend to sign Weber that's going to be a ton of cash tied up in three players who don't score a lot of goals.

- duxcup07

WHERE? 10 mil is ridiculous. he may want 8ish, but wont get that if he wants years ( which he stated was important)

Will the Cap go up before July 1 st? I have no idea when they announce that.
- VANTEL

It usually is known before July 1, but with the CBA expiring, I have no idea about this year. I don't really want Suter anyway, I would rather the Hawks add two solid but lower $ FA acquisitions.

It's worth noting in all of this that Suter's agent, Neil Sheehy, has a good relationship and used to play for Poile when he was GM of the Caps.

My prediction is they both (Suter & Weber) sign as a packaged deal. One press conference to tell the world this team is serious.

That would be good for the Preds and I'd like to see it, but not so sure how likely it is.

I think his heart wants to stay in Nashville.... but how much of a contender are they really?

Let's be honest, the current make of this Nashville, which was supposed to be "the year"... didnt impress much as they should have, and have never got out of the 2nd round.

Im not saying Detroit is the option, Im not saying they are.... but they will be on his radar, just like I would say 20 other teams come July 1st if he doesnt stay.

Chicago is a team in chaos and Suter is a bad fit. I think Chicago has much bigger problems than trying to add another top Dman.

Please explain how the Hawks are in "chaos" ??

Let's be really honest...no one in the league thought this was "the year" for the Preds until Radulov returned, and even then, most people didn't think 10 games would be enough for him to get up to NHL speed and for the team to find the chemistry with the late-season additions. They outperformed any expert's expectation by claiming the 4-seed and advancing out of the first round, compared to where everyone thought they would end up based on the off-season personnel changes. In fact, Nashville was never a top-5 odds favorite in Vegas to win the Cup ever...even after they beat Detroit in the first round.

I think if his heart was in Nashville, this deal would have been done a long time ago.

Too many people around here who know too little about Nashville. A lot of ignorant remarks I choose to ignore.

Suter and Weber will likely stay. Who knows what will happen with Radulov?

Interesting article in today's Tennessean on this very subject. It sounds like there is hope.

I was saying this before and after Radulov... I was referring more to media than the Nashville fans here by the way. But I can agree with this post.

I'd be ok with that. I either want him signed or traded. I'd hate to see him go back to the KHL with the Preds getting nothing in return.

Definitely would be a plus to get something, anything in return, especially considering Radulov's RFA status which would be apparently lost (?) to the Preds if he heads back to the KHL.

Should a move like this Ranger speculation occur, it would probably be better for all concerned. I'm a long way from being convinced that he'll ever fit in here as there are a lot of hurdles to overcome.

I agree with that. If Trotz could be a little more malleable in regards to coaching to a player's skills rather than expecting to player to adhere strictly to his system then I'd say Radulov has a great future here, but I just don't believe he'll ever be allowed to reach his true offensive potential in this system.

Btw, this isn't a complaint. Our team is how it is, and we've seen some pretty great hockey as a result. I don't know if we'll ever reach the promised land in my lifetime, but as a general rule, year in and year out I'm pretty satisfied with what the Preds give me.

I whole-heartedly agree but for the life of me cant see that life with Torts would be any sweeter. If I were the Rangers, i would want some type of "rebate/re-do-etc" if Rads decided not to sign with the Blue Shirts.
