I agree, but I think he's going to sign for somewhere in the $5-6 million range, and I'm not sure Gillis will offer that. It would certainly limit his options for finding another top6 forward, as well.

I still hate Bieksa and Hamhuis as our top pair.

Also we have 9.2 Mil with 17 players signed.
The cap will go up lets say 3 Mil
With Ballard Manny and part of Lu's salary I think it will be in the neighborhood of 8 Mil

We should have about 20 mil with 17 players signed . We can go after both.

We wont get the 1 st round pick . At this time we need more RHD than we need LHD so it would be rational to get Schenn this year but for the future it would be better if we got Gardiner. So either one + something else like a conditional 2nd or 3 rd next year.

2 out of those 3 won't even be on the table. I'll let you guess which ones.

ha. Yup.

There is a car wash on Marine Drive in North Vancouver. The old lady behind the desk is Burke's mother in law. The guy won't even help out his wife's mom.

I think you have to go for the best players available. If we keep hanging on to a max 4.6 Bieksa discount and the cost of players goes up year to year ,we will never attract anything. If Wideman is the best player available for this team and his demand is 5 mil or Weber at 7 mil , then you look at what it does for the team and if it is affordable. I the answer is yes sign the guy.
- VANTEL

True. And I wouldn't mind Wideman at around 5, because I do think he's the best available UFA D (other than Suter), and I think he would be the best fit with Edler.

But, it depends if Gillis feels it's more important to get another top6 forward.

There will likely only be one (if any) somewhat high-profile UFA signing for the Canucks—the rest will be depth and bottom-6/extra-D.

Also depends what areas are addressed through trades.

Sounds like Bob Hartley is going to be the Flames new Head Coach.

Swing and a miss again for Eklund!

He doesn't want her to quit in case he misses the playoffs this year ,then he knows he has a job to come here to.

Dumping Manny and Ballard along with the 9 Mil in space we could go after Parenteau and Wideman. I still think the type of player Gillis will go after are more defensive type bigger players with AVs influence.

Not too many impact players who fit this profile. Teams that get them tend to hold on to them.

Would Carkner be a better option at 1 Mil than Alberts as a 7/8 D

Would you sign Volpatti again for 800K. When he did play at times he brought energy.

If Gillis can get Garrison as a UFA and Gardiner via trade, don't be surprised if Edler gets moved!

You would think someone needs to be moved . 4 LH D at that caliber is going to piss off the one sitting in the pressbox.

So based on this and the fact that I can't imagine Burke giving all that up for Luongo and reports are it's a multi-player deal could we possibly see:

Gardiner, Schenn, and Toronto's 5th for Luongo and Edler and Vancouver's pick?

Edler is due for a contract and sometimes inconsistent in his play. So if Gillis signed Garrison as well would you do this deal?

It won't be for the three peices.TO are not that crazy.

Trading Edler would have to be for one of the 10 best D men in the league, if it were to happen, or a package deal for a top forward.A blockbuster trade to NYI NASHVILLE or SJS could happen.

All kinds of crazy possibilities, I have no idea what's gonna happen? But I could see Edler packaged with Lu if Burke has a real boner for him.

Don't have much to trade other than Luongo. We've been over this before, but it's not as simple as swapping out the players you don't think are working for upgrades.

I have a feeling that you are talking about Weber again. I am confident enough to put money on Weber never playing a game with the Canucks. Nsh would want a king's ransom, even as a pending UFA, and when he becomes a UFA, another team will throw more money than he's worth at him. Not worth it.
