Would give Vancouver the option to have him play in the KHL for a year and come over for the playoffs ala radulov.
KHL may be a better option than ohl. |

Goes to once again show the quality of ufa defenseman this offseason.
With that signing it would seem Jackels promises of Suter have diminished a little. |

I think the Canucks would rather avoid that situation. I'm sure NSH would have preferred keeping Radulov in NA.
It would also depend what kind of contract he signed—anything over a year and he will be missing time he could be on the Wolves learning a system closer to what he would play on the Canucks.
Not sure what the rules are for ELCs in the KHL, but you'd have to think they would try to entice him to stay there with more $$.
Still, him actually going over to the KHL is unlikely, as many young NHL draftees are drafted in the later rounds of the KHL, just in case they bolt, and never end up playing. |

I'd like to see the Canucks try and move up in the draft to acquire Brendan Gaunce.
"
Center
Height 6.02 — Weight 205 — Shoots L
Gaunce is the classic good old Canadian Boy hockey player. He’s got great size and he is not afraid to use it. He is extremely effective using his body in the offensive zone, winning board battles, getting to loose pucks, and scoring the points from the dirty areas of the ice. Gaunce thrives in traffic, and combines his powerful physique with soft hands, good hockey sense and excellent passing ability to be a point per game player for the Belleville Bulls. Gaunce is an extremely hardworking player and we’ve rarely seen this kid take a shift off.
Gaunce is also a very intelligent defensive player. His coaches in Belleville use him in all situations, including when line matching against the opponent’s best players and on the penalty kill. Gaunce uses his long reach to cut down on passing lanes and is not afraid to use his body to block shots. He has good positioning and anticipation. His size, strength and hard work also help him to win board battles in the defensive zone.
Gaunce has great intagibles, and in watching games it is obvious to us that Gaunce is a natural born leader." |

Who do you figure we would have to trade with to be able to pick him? IF we were to trade with Tampa for Lu, it's unlikely we will be able to wrangle Tampa's first pick, and he might be gone by the time the 19th pick rolls around. |

Hell, if we are moving up......
Griffin Reinhart.
We would probably need Winnipegs pick to get him.

Oh for sure. Nothing longer than a year. I was more thinking that playing in the KHL would be a step up on the ohl.

No idea, Tampa is the logical trade partner. However, maybe you can swing a deal with someone else in the middle of the pack.
Maybe you move Luongo strictly for prospects / picks and then package them with the 26th overall pick. That might be enough to get you into the middle of the first round.
Or maybe if Gillis decides to move Schneider, you can do something like Brett Connolly/ the 10th overall pick / and a 2nd round pick for Schneider and Raymond.
Either way, I think Gaunce is the type of player the Canucks should be after. Despite only being 18, he's not far off from being NHL ready. He should be able to contribute within the Canucks current window of the next few years. Gaunce, Kassian and Jensen could all be NHL ready around the same time. It would certainly help increase the Canucks size in the top 9.

I think raymond packaged with Lou or schnieder will be a definitely possibility. And would get a good return.
Raymond is a good value, being bought low right now.

Yea, I think this is one of those situations where everyone involved would benefit from a change of scenery. Raymond will never be a top six player in Vancouver, so it's best for him to move on. Also, for the sanity of Vancouver fans, it's probably best that Raymond leave. If I watch him fire one more weak wrist shot off the rush from the side boards, I might lose my mind. |

I actually applaud when he gets off a weak wrist shot! It's better than him flying down the wing and falling down in the corner leading to an odd man rush the other way. No more Raymond. |

Definitely better for his development, but I wouldn't trust those scheming KHL s.o.b.'s to let him come back without putting up a fight.
There was something on the Wolves website a while back that said Jensen was AHL eligible, but I think it was ruled as a mistake on the site's part.
I asked your opinion on this in another thread, but it's interesting the route they are going with Grenier, letting him sign with Salzburg even though he is AHL eligible. I figured he was good enough to make the Wolves, but if not, I suppose it's better than the ECHL.
