what about this?...
WPG = 1st Rounder (Yakupov), Marincin, 4th Rounder
EDM = 1st Rounder (9th), Kane, Enstrom
OR forget Enstrom:
WPG = 1st Rounder (Yakupov), 3rd Rounder
EDM = 1st Rounder (9th), Bogosian
Maybe?... - OilerFanFromBC
Second one reasonable. First one is totally lopsided and utterly ridiculous. |

There's some serious overrating of Kane going on in this thread... He's a really good player, but come on... |

Come on what? Yakupov hasn't played a single game and Edm fans are talking as if he's the saviour. Kane has already had three successful seasons, improving significantly in each one. What has PRV done?
Kane is a cornerstone of the franchise right now, whether he signs long term or is moved for important assets. He won't be had for anything outside of "Blockbuster" for no other reason than why would/should Chevy move him?
How bout Kane for Hall/RNH/Eberle straight up?
None of those guys would get moved unless the Oilers were blown away with an offer. They are the future of the franchise, either by playing for years or by bringing in some serious assets, as is Kane. |

ZzzZzzZzzZZzZzzZZZZZZZ... Kane is good, but he isn't a superstar.
In two years you'll realize how ridiculous the Yakupov + for Kane proposals are.
You can't seriously think Kane for Yakupov + Marincin + 4th is fair...
Like I said earlier... I like Kane. He's big, and talented... I'd probably even consider trading our first for him. But it's ignorant to suggest we'd have to add more than the first overall. |

lololol...you like to shift goal posts...you went from Yak to Kane to MPS????? How the hell did Magnus become part of the conversation?
Now Kane had an improvement year to year but it was not until this year that he finally showed up to prove that he was worth that 4th overall selection. I remember reading in his 2nd year that people were wondering if he wasn't overwhelmed and maybe not as good as thought.
Guess what? It takes some time, more time for some than others.
Then you talk about Kane for Hall/Ebs/Nuge...I hope you mean that in a 1-for-1 trade. At best you get Kane for Hall straight up (based solely on a switch of LWers, I am not keen on trading our 1st line center and Ebs it just too good), but I am not sure, Hall has had a better first 2 years on an even worse team.
I do agree that Wpg does not trade Kane w/o an insane payment. He is to the Jets what Hall is to the Oil, and Hall isn't going anywhere. |

You know what i would do that trade. Yak is unproven and Kane is right in the wheelhouse in regards to the rebuild timeline. Plus he is something we need a big winger, preferably not a RW.
Hall.Nuge.Ebs
EKane.Gags.Hemmer
Harti.Horc.Jones
Eager.Belanger.??
(frank)ing Sexy Dream that would be...everyone in their positions and 2 full on capable scoring lines.
but alas it is naught but a dream.. |

I'm pretty confident Yakupov is a sure thing. Yeah, there were busts in the past, but that was the past... Scouting is so much better these days, and Yakupov is a beast. That being said, I would consider trading our first for him... To add in Marincin and a 4th though? Come on... Marincin is out top defensive prospect. Terrible move for the Oilers. |

Kane is 20, has scored 30 goals and almost 60 points already. He was tearing up the league at the start of the year and is one of the best young players in the league and somehow he is not worth a prospect that has done nothing...
And since when is Maricin Edm top defensive prospect? |

1. I didn't say Maricin was Edmonton's top defenseive prospect, I said Marincin was Edmonton's top defensive prospect. And I only say that, BECAUSE HE IS. Well, him and Klefbom are neck and neck.
2. You're undervaluing the #1 pick. If a deal was to be done, it would be Kane for our number 1... No more would be added by either side. Call me crazy, but I place just as much value on this number pick as I do on Taylor Hall.
3. And again, I'm not sh1tting on Kane, because I actually really like the guy... BUT Yakupov will be the better player, I have zero doubt in my mind. To suggest we throw in our best defensive prospect and our #4 is silly. Lowe/Tambs would laugh at that deal, especially considering how badly we need D in the future. |

I am not calling Yak a bust. He is a talented player and is the consensus #1 for a reason.
But he has not played a single game yet while Kane has 3 seasons under his belt and has scored 30. Kane is Winnipeg's Hall, so to get him will require an obvious overpayment.
Marcinin has had his stock fall badly, and while it could rise again with a proper development this summer be is not the top "D" prospect he was a year ago. He and the 4th round pick I see as part of the over pay to get Kane + #12.

Kane is Winnipeg's Hall, but he isn't Hall... Although Kane is a fantastic player, and has improved, I do feel that he is being overrated here.
If you compare both players after their second season we have:
Kane ~ .49ppg and .23gpg
Hall ~ .75ppg and .39gpg
Yakupov will be at Hall's level... Not a doubt in my mind. Just watch what he does this upcoming season and get back to me. As a matter of fact, bookmark this thread. Yak + Marincin + 4th for Kane = That's basically like telling the Islanders we want the 4th overall + Strome + their 4th rounder for Gagner.
Klefbom and Marincin are the Oilers top two defensive prospects at the moment. - laughs2907
It is not as simple as that tho Laughs...
And do not get me wrong here, What I said is that Kane is to the Jets what Hall is to the Oil.
but as for stats lets look at others...
(first two years)
Kane: 327 hits, +41give/take
Hall: 92 hits, -27 give/take
Kane plays a good physical game...and he has reached 30g...and is getting better. What is an oiler weakness? Size in the Top 6. Physical play in the Top 6. that is Kane's game. and it looks like he does not cough up the puck as much as he gets the puck from the opposition.
Do you call MPS a bust? No you don't, but you are holding the development that Kane has gone through in his first 2 years against him, you know better than that.
And don't compare Kane to Gags, I love Gags but Kane is better.
As for D prospects...Gernat over Marcinin imo. |

Only brought up PRV because that was a popular proposal for Kane (couldn't he be considered a poor man's Kane anyway?)
Yes, when I mentioned trading Hall/Eb/RNH, I meant as a one for one deal but I posted that to make a point, not to compare them. If Kane moves, it won't be for PRV or Gagner or any spare parts. It'll be for a significant name. Otherwise, they won't bother. In a nutshell, my point is Wpg does not trade Kane w/o an insane payment. He is to the Jets what Hall is to the Oil - OilHorse |

Every time I hear of someone offering up Hemsky for anyone I chuckle.
Wait......here's an idea. Hemsky, Gagne, and MPS for Tim Tebow. I know, I know, he doesn't play hockey......but he is the only professional athlete I could find who equals those three in the "overrated" department. |
