I agree with you for the most part, except for the Rangers defense. They are better IMO. They have more upside with Staal and McDougnah, and I think thier whole defense's cap hit is like as much as our top 3 guys...
- RooNosHockey

Yeah, and they have Stu Bickel as the 6th guy. Top to bottom the defenses are similar on paper. I'm not talking upside, I'm talking right now. Sure, two years from now, Del Zotto, Staal and McDonagh will probably look better than a Retired Timonen, Carle, Coburn and Grossmann.

Also, in a year or two, that defensive cap hit will be huge, as these guys finish their EL deals.

The Flyers need a strong commitment to team defense. On paper, a top 6 of Timonen, Coburn, Meszaros, Carle, Grossmann and Gustafsson isn't bad at all. Compare it to the top sixes of New Jersey, Phoenix or the Rangers. It's as good on paper as any of them.

But those teams all play defense well, as a team.

Imagine if Weber were to sustain a season ending injury.

Don't be such a worry-wart. What are the odds of that happening?

Keep your Lambo, they are nothing but flash for the not so well hung. Weber is a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport or McLaren MP4. Veroom.

Really? Then where the hell is my Lambo?

As far as the Weber blockbuster goes, I am NOT an advocate of that at all. He's a beast. Yeah. But I just don't want to see Homer trade away half of the core and future of this team, including first rounders, for a player. Even Weber.

I just don't want to see it happen. I have a bad feeling about it, I guess...

They tried it once getting Pronger (who was older) and they came close to winning the cup but I dont know if unloading all the young talent and picks is the answer. Have to keep your options open.

Why do you keep spreading your opinion when the opinion is not accurate?

I never post my opinion here, as I do not opine. I assess. Most other assessments here are wrong unless they agree with mine.

Lavi isn't changing his system (from what I've read) so I don't know how they are going to play better "team" defense. All Lavi has to do is make some adjustments and stress alittle more in his own end but he's an attack type of guy so who knows.

Would that top-6 be good in the Flyers system or style of play? I really don't have an answer but the Rangers do have some talent on the blueline.

Well, closing the gap between forwards and D isn't a change of system - it's players being more aware. It's like baserunning in baseball. You can't blame the 1B and 3B coaches for idiocy on the bases. For reference, please see: HAYES, VON.
