Richards and Carter at their best are not elite players nor are they in the conversation for best player in the League at their position. Weber is certainly elite and is arguably the best defenseman in the NHL.
- MJL

Richards was one of those good trades for both sides. LA got Richards...nuff said.

We got Simmonds and Schenn, and some cap relief to sign a goalie.

Who gives a crap who is elite or not. Richards is a great player - minor league cup, Olympic gold medal, possible SC (appearance #2 BTW). As of now, Kings won that deal, although time will tell.

I think this thing with Weber is a dream. Sounds like Parise is a dream as well. I think we will have a quiet offseason - going on the record here now.

how would you describe the Devils defensive corp?
- bradleyc4

That's exactly right Brad. I feel after every single series loss many misconeptions are formed due to the way the team lost. Last year, no doubt, the goaltending was terrible and this year the D struggled (but who didn't?), but I'm not so sure that it makes you have to go crazy to acquire a top flight player. My reasoning? Everything has to go right in the playoffs to win... EVERYTHING. Teams like Nashville and the New York Rangers are prime examples of teams with perhaps the best goaltenders and defenses in the league and they are both home. It's always what the Flyers did wrong, not the opponent talent, when it comes to THIS team. Last time I checked, the Devils were quietly a pretty good team that has erupted. Make your moves Homer, but don't stray from the what you have built.

shame you stopped buying right before it got good again.
- OrangeBlack27

I keep trying the demo every year but the hockey just seems broken or something. Maybe I had just lost interest. But I do like the additions/issues they are addressing for the coming version of the game, especially redoing the skating engine and making the AI aware of things other than the puck (so defensemen properly play oddman rushes). I was maybe going to dip back in again this year regardless of who was on the cover. Giroux on it/featured would be icing on the cake

If your using the Richards and/or Carter trades as a reference point or a starting point in suggesting a value in trading for Weber. Then is certainly matters who is considered elite and who isn't.

It's proven that every runner up to these cover votes suffers a career threatening injury the next year...
- broadstreet11

it's proven that every one who gets on a cover of sports illustrated or a video game has some sort of jinx involved with their season as well if I could have voted it would have been for Crosby or Lundqvist.

Well I highly doubt Giroux loses to a Finnish goaltender playing for Nashville...so I guess you will just have to accept it

Patrick Kane was on the cover of NHL 10. He had a pretty good year afterward. Stamkos scored 60 goals after his coverboy appearance

I was stunned Lundqvist lost to Rinne. Those Nashville peeps must have a lot of free time.

I'm not sure your opinion is accurate. You should possibly rethink. I'm not even sure you are entitled to that opinion.

Why would I not be entitled to an opinion about Philly fans?

From the code of conduct

"It is not against the rules for someone to disagree with you. "

Which means he's entitled to his opinion.

Scratch Johnny Oduya off your FA list, just re-signed with the Hawks for 3 years

What does their cap situation look like? I had read that they could and would be players for Suter if a couple of scenarios took place. Resigning Oduya was not one of them.

What's the number? They are supposedly one of the teams in the running for suter. This signing would affect that I would think

What is everyone's opinion of Kane. I have seen multiple pieces on the internet that say he has a real attitude problem (as if punching a cabbie wasn't enough). Does anyone think he would have been successful here?

Oduya is not comparable to Carle. Carle is better player.

If they trade Kane, they will open up some room. No idea on cap number yet
