According to Dany Dubé, Patrick Roy asked for too much for the taste of the Habs.
He wanted some leverage in the trades and in the draft, and he wanted too many years on his contract.
He's not saying he's out of the processus, but apparently the staff didn't like that. - QuebecPride
Pretty sure every coach of every team has somewhat a say or at least the opportunity to voice an opinion about the on ice product.
I can see the Habs hesitating on the length of the deal because if it doesn't work out, they don't want to pay him to stay at home. Can't really picture Roy accepting a reassignment as a scout.

No one does.
EDIT: Just watched Blackwater. Obviously they deviated quite a bit from the book this season, but I thought they did a pretty good job with the battle. Should be interesting to see how they set up the next season.

First off, the finale: HBOWatch.com has picked up on an unusual detail in the network’s official schedule, which has Veep airing at 10:10 PM on Sunday, June 3 instead of the usual 10:00. The reason? HBO is expanding the Season 2 finale of Game of Thrones by ten minutes.
