And then you trade Gabby to CGY for Iginla...
Nash, Richards, Iggy... good luck trying to bully that top line.
*drool* - NYRPowerPlay
As jimbo pointed out to me yesterday, Gaborik has a full NTC. He's not gonna waive it to go to a rebuilding Flames team. Especially since the only assest they would have is in between the pipes. |
|
|
|
honestly dude, I don't think there is a realm of possibility of Gaborik being traded anywhere.
Especially to Columbus. If Gaborik were to waive his no trade clause, it would never be to Columbus, players go kicking and screaming to that place, nobody goes willingly, unless you are James Wisniewski and they sign you to an ungodly amount of money.
The Nash deal will have to include Dubinsky's salary going back as part of a bigger package to Columbus if it happens - jimbro83
A man can dream, can't he?
The likelihood of Nash being here next season is rather remote, I am aware.
I think this team needs to find a way to tweak the roster without losing an integral part of the core and identity of this team.
Really hope Gaborik isn't here next year but I doubt the Rangers will ship out their best goal scorer. No heart, no balls and no guts |

you definitely can dream, no doubt, but I don't think it's inconceivable at all that both Nash and Gaborik could be here next season. I think both here at the same time is possible.
The only way Gaborik gets traded is if he asks to be traded, which I don't think is going to happen.
At least he managed to play 100 games this season without any injury which was rather remarkable. |

The guy that scares me is Semin. I feel like if the Rangers can't trade for another scorer that they will overpay for a guy like Semin. He would be the teams' last resort. |

yeah, I don't see the Rangers targeting Semin at all. Doesn't fit their team concept.
FYI...Rangers traded the #149th pick in this year's draft for John Scott. |

Tortorella has a say in what players the organization will go after.
Let me put it this way, we have a shot at making this team next year more than Semin has a chance of signing here.
Semin will probably go to the highest bidder and I can guarantee the Rangers will not be one of those teams. |

it amazes me how none of you want gaborik on this team anymore.the guy can pot 40 and has dynamic speed.last year in the playoffs ill let slide beause he had a terrible year and never got it going once.this year, yeah,he had a bad playoff but his season was remarkable and he won you possibly the most entertaining game ive ever seen,in triple OT.let me ask you this,if you were to trade gaborik for a michalek(ottawa by far wins and would be absurd if you ask me)and you plan on signing a parise or semin or even trying to get nash but you dont, would you want gaborik back at that point or because he was one of 8 forwards who didnt show up this postseason you will hate him until he retires |

He avoids contact, hence the reason why he was able to play that much.
I know he is talented and is the team's best scorer for now; the way he performed in the playoffs will outweigh his solid offensive production in the regular season. |

"he avoids contact".if i remember right he was one of our more physical(shockingly)forwards in the ottawa series hitting in the corners and taking hits to keep the play alive.washington series was 60-40 and well the devils series, not so much |

If they are signing Schultz and Erixon is ready, I guess it isn't the end of the world.
Still would like to see Del Zotto develop more here but you have to give to get as well. |

he also insisted that the rangers would counter attack with taking out del zotto and the 2nd and make it mcilrath and a 1st |

He was avoiding contact against Jersey like the Devils players had tuberculosis.
He was invisible against Ottawa but solid against Washington.
His overall playoff grade is a D-, bordering F. He really was a huge disappointment. |

cant argue that, solid pont.not looking to start anything but has it ever occured to any body that the top 3 lines may of been over tired(we all know they were tired to begin with)due to the fact tortorella never rolled 4 lines a single game? |

I'm over the ECF performance, he has a full NTC, he isn't going anywhere so there's no sense of coming up with trade scenarios, you're right he has dynamic speed, quick release and can score 40 to 50 a season, why would you want to deplete your team of that? |

That tired excuse is not one I can accept. But the bottom-line is he is likely to stay here so no need to explore potential Gaborik trade scenarios. |

I don't get how you guys are singling out players. When it comes down to it, the forwards did not get the job done. The Rangers did not score more than three goals, only managed three goals a few times, that's not going to win you games this late in the season. You need other guys stepping up, and putting the puck in the net, the Rangers didn't get that. In the first two series, they managed to get by because they were low scoring, you can't expect Lundqvist to remain the brick wall that he was for some of the games, goalies are bound to break, and when he did, the offense wasn't there to cover his ass. |

I don't know, I'm actually surprised at least on here the amount of NJ & other fans who have been classy. No real troll fest, which is very surprising.
I am not in Jersey & know very few Devil fans besides this board so its a little easier on me, for you & Frankie & others in NJ it must be different, sorry Vin. - B2B76

Can't help but agree with that last part. Hank faltered in the last two games of the Devils series, especially during Game 5, and no one picked up the slack for him. Hank bails this team out all the time, somebody has to step up from time to time to bail him out.
On the blog, I like the prospect of going after Schultz. Prust getting resigned should be a no brainer and I think Biron will be given another deal as well. Gotta say no to the free agent class this year. As good as some of those players are, we likely won't have the space to go after anyone significant. The only splash I see the Rangers making is when the Nash talks resume at the draft. |

I'm just saying if the rangers can't pull of a deal for a nash or a iginla type of player, then they will look to see who is a available via UFA. I expect Parise to stay wit NJ so the foward crop thins out quite a bit.
It's either an older foward like Jagr, Whitney or Doan. Then there is the an enigmas known as Kostitsyn and Semin. |

I think Doan is the best fit but chances he leaves Phoenix? |
