You sure do respond to it though?

You should have more respect for a man who brought this team four championships.

I'm Butch Goring? That means Charles Wang fired me long ago, everyone in the alumni was furious about that. I now work for Dolan on his network to hide Islander games on Msg+10 in mores code.

- NYI

All by himself, huh? I guess Butch really didn't need Bossy, Trotts, Smith, Potvin, Gillies, Nystrom, Tonelli, Morrow, etc. It was all Butchie! You are delusional...

Ha, I'm restraining myself today! It's impressive this thread has gone on as long as it has, for a team that's been an afterthought since November (more comments than the Kings thread for a team heading to the Stanley Cup Finals!), but I really don't think it's worth carrying much further. All of NYI's posts make me wonder what planet he's on; how we can see the same evidence so drastically different. I'm sure my posts sound the same to him. I've disagreed with almost everyone on here about something, but never quite like this. If there's no overlap at all, then it'll be virtually impossible to find common ground anywhere, and this could just go on for infinity (to infinity? For eternity? Whatever). I'm content to rest my case on the arguments I've made and let the jury decide.

Not a trial or jury, for some it may be a kangaroo court.

I'll let my arguments stand on the people who work here, sign here, resign here when they could all leave (even Nabokov) and all the former players who credited and praised this owner.

I have to pull a Columbo here and ask just one more question, and feel free to punt if you don't want to answer, but do you work for the organization? I'm hoping you're a super-loyal/optimistic fan, cause I gotta say, if this is the thinking that pervades the organization up and down, that there are no problems at all with current ownership/management decisions, and even worse, that a guy like Milbury was OK, just an unfortunate victim of circumstance, then that's pretty frightening to me when trying to consider where things will be going forward...

For the third time I am no employee of anyone, only go by actions and what the people who have signed here have said since 2000. They know, we don't and they all overwhelmingly have supported this owner.

Even Trent Hunter the day after he got traded supported Charles Wang.

By your logic I now ask do you work for Tom Gulotta, Joe Mondello, Smg, Al D'Amato, Kate Murray, Jay Jacobs, Ed Mangano, Stuart Rabinowicz and the host of Nassau and TOH politicians who have done everything in their power to force whoever has owned this team since 1990 to sell or ice a product pre Wang that was a disgrace for their own interest in forcing this team out?

Feel free to punt if you have a vested interested in protecting the politicians who have failed to make this team a public trust like NYC/NJ did for their teams via public money long before Charles Wang as they get blamed one day a year while Wang get's blamed the other 364 days.

Kind of pathetic attacking a man who was a part of a four time cup winner, who's put his heart into this franchise and is attempting to be a broadcaster at age 60 to read such pathetic things who deserves a spot in the NHL hall of fame.

I didnt attack anyone, i asked a question.

Just because he was part of a 4 cup dynasty doesn't mean he cant be criticized.

he is "attempting" and if you watch the games & listen to him call them.. he's failing in that attempt

No Butch Goring does NOT belong in the NHL hall of fame, The Islander HoF yes, NHL NO

He cannot type or spell is not an attack? Your kind of pathetic to make such a claim about a man who was playing in the NHL during the 1960's. This man left here and won a championship in Germany between coaching the Isles and Bruins and was a great player with the Kings who has been a first class ambassador for our game.

He sure did sound good defending the team after the fights with the Pens and all the alumni who he called and praised the team.

You want to criticize his announcing that's fair, it's Msg's employee and their decision to give him a contract just like Carlin, Ruttgaizer, Jaffe, Micheletti, Cangialosi, Daneyko, Placey and everyone who appears on their telecasts.

Msg is so cheap they would not even give the Devils a post-game in the second round for road games and are sharing postgames now.

And before you tell me that's Wang also, read it from Dolan's own mouth:
http://nymag.com/nymetro/...eatures/11545/index4.html

Just last October, Jim erupted when presented with the estimates for the hockey broadcast costs on the MSG Network in 2005, which projected a fairly dramatic increase. What his managers tried to explain, as he bellowed at them, was that the 2004 figures had been artificially low because of the NHL lockout (no hockey games to show), and the expectation was that games would resume in 2005.

Soon after the meeting, Mike McCarthy, the president of MSG Network, resigned.

” The run-in with Mike McCarthy was partially about that. “Mike and I didn’t always agree on everything,” he says. “And there was a meeting in here that got loud. Mike and I met right afterward. And I apologized to Mike for getting loud, and I apologized to everybody in the room. It just so happened that it came at one of those times where I had spent an insane amount of effort trying to get people to change. And they just came back to me with the same-old same-olds.”

I asked Mick what made him think he could spell or type or read for that matter.

ok.. im pathetic.. BUT i never made any claim.. Again i asked a question.

What does his championship resume have to do with his ability to call a game? What does where he played have to do with his inability to say the names of the players of his own team correctly?

Again winning a championship or 2 or 4 does NOT make you a flawless individual

Are you a football fan? I am. Bill Parcells once said that "you are what you're record says you are". The Islanders' record under Wang is bad. Four play-off appearances in 11 seasons. Six bottoom five finishes, two worst overall finishes. No play-off advancement past the first round. No arena. No long term commitment to the area. You can't sugar-coat that record by simply pointing out that he fixed a scoreboard, signed restricted free agents and by pointing fingers at every politician you can identify.

Here come the catchy slogans that deflect from all the facts.

No one has a worse record than Nassau County long before Wang, while every other local team in New York, New Jersey and Canada received or will be receiving taxpayer cash for their buildings while Wang has agreed to any kind of plan as long as something get's done.

The record was far worse before Wang came along, who spent 190m for a team hundreds of million more on players from Hamrlik to Tavares and paid to renovate a building he's only a tenant in.

That's Charles Wang's record, along with spending 20m for one plan, and running around selling Mangano's cashgrab for his broke general fund for the other while Kate Murray's father got paid by the Town Of Hempstead and Armand D'Amato had his had out.

Everyone before Wang and was a con-artist with no money, or tried to move almost immediately and sell Palffy to the Rangers or like Pickett nothing would ever get done here and it was time to sell.

Of course you don't want to go near the politicians record.

Still doesn't hide the fact that he has no idea how to run an NHL franchise. Nobody is disputing he cares or isn't a nice guy. All the fans want are results and so far the results have been putrid. If the NHL awarded points for excuses instead of wins the isles would be playing for the cup right now. Instead they are on the outside looking in yet again. Wang is in over his head and getting a new building is not going to change the fact he knows nothing about hockey and has no clue on what he is doing.

Easy my friend, a lot of teams in the league had longer periods than five years without playoffs with nowhere near the injuries this franchise has had. Sorry, but the Isles are not Columbus, Florida, Phoenix, the Rangers, St Louis, Los Angeles, Chicago, Edmonton and many other franchises that have had very long playoff droughts too or to date have never won a cup.

So how do you know what an owner does that would determine whether he has any idea how to run an NHL franchise? Are you going to tell me Ed Snider going into the Flyer lockeroom a year ago and deciding he needed a new goaltending toy makes him a good owner, after giving out those front-loaded deals, than trading Richards and Carter?

Snider was even wishing them luck in the finals, he's a real prince of an owner using Comcast money and getting his taxpayer funded Lighthouse.

Garth Snow has made some excellent decisions and brought in some very productive players along with the the clunkers on par with other gm's. What he did not do was injure all those players from Sillinger, Hunter, Weight, Guerin, Streit, DiPiPietro, Sim, Hilbert and about 20 others.

Oops, Snow just signed another prospect a year early to an ELC in John Persson with cheapskate Wang's money.

All I did was cite facts, pal. His record over 11 years. All facts. No fluff. Don't like what you're reading? Don't come to these boards.

And maybe if you spent more than 10 minutes reading my posts on these boards, you'd know that I'm the first person to slam the politicans in the TOH and Nassau. Get informed before you post.

Sure you're the first person to slam the politicians in TOH and Nassau one day a year and Wang the other 364.9 days.

Facts?

Islander fans did not support the team after 1989 outside of part of one season regardless who the owners were. You like catchy Parcells phrases and slogans?

Here's a few.... Your attendance record is the worst in the NHL for two decades and that's why Nassau TOH know they can ignore the team into oblivion because the fans do whether Pickett, Torrey, Arbour, Milbury, or Wang, Snow are here.

But Murray sure does laugh her way to sixty percent on election day.

There are franchises that went to zero playoffs in a decade and relocated that have outdrawn this franchise.

That's your record.

Hey Pal " Your excuses are your own " -Glengarry Glen Ross 1992 when playoff games were not sold out until second round and packed with Habs fans in semi-finals.......

Completely inaccurate. You obviously don't come to these boards too often or else you'd be a bit closer to accurate.

So now its the Fans' fault the team isn't competitive? First it was the politicans, now its the fans? I guess that makes sense, since the Fans have input on who the team hires to run the franchise, who the team drafts, who the team hires to coach, who the team pursues and offers contracts to on the free agent market, etc. Yeah, now that I think about it, its all the fans' fault this team has failed for two decades. Please...

You think that if the NVMC was sold out every night that Kate Murray wouldn't have blocked the Lighthouse? You honestly think that if the arena was sold out every night that Nassau's politicans would have magically come together and put a plan together for a publicly-funded predecessor to NVMC AND that NIFA would have miraculously approved funding for such legislation? Keep dreaming, pal. It must be nice living in Fantasy Land.

Here's some business FACT for you: its not the fans' responsibility to blindly and unconditionally financially support a sports team that gives them nothing in return. Its the team's responsibility to provide an entertainment product worthy of the consumer's dollar BEFORE the consumer invests its dollars into that product. Its the same in all businesses. Businesses aren't "entitled" to consumer monetary support. All businesses must provide products/services worthy of the consumer dollar. The Islanders have not done that for the better part of the past two decades.

When the team was competitive (2001-04), the place was sold out and there wasn't a seat to be had during the playoffs. When the team sucked, the attendance dropped. How you can blame the fans for this team's failures is baffling to me.
