IMO Carter & Richards impact has been far less than Quick & Brown's...and those guys have been there for a while. - Pen15
Carters impact has been huge for this team. What Im trying to say is... the past couple years, we have tried to get Brad Richards, Ilya Kovalchuck(sp) and focused just on those players... while other good players were signed by other teams. And I hate that. But Willie Mitchell? Huge for this team. He was never a big free agent name?

Gardiner is not overrated....but he has only played 1 full season...if he keeps up the pace, he'll be a top 2 guy....just as if Stall keeps up his pace he'll be a #1 guy - Pen15
You don't have to sell me on Gardiner. For all the stuff I post on Toronto players, I'm a fan of his. |

You would think the Habs would be more interested in Staal than Kane.
Just sayin'..... - ehabs9
Pacioretty & Gorges for Staal, Lovejoy, and a 2nd
Habs get the big center that they need, plus a solid 3/4 defenseman
Penguins get a physical scoring winger for Crosby and a shutdown D-man |

Reimer started off great, and after that hit to his head (thank you Gionta), he never regained his form. - acresd
I never thought it looked that bad (the hit that is), but it definitely screwed over his season. |

Staal is not currently better than any teams number 1 center. He is an average number 2 player with his numbers. Playing on Pittsburg with Crosby out this year he didn't have huge points. I don't think I would trade Horcoff for him and Horcoff played 3rd line minutes on the 29th finishing team but had similiar numbers. He will be a career 50 pt player and that is worth 3 mill a year and a 3/4 dman if a team is looking do dump salary. Maybe a second round pick. He had potential but you have to call a spade a spade, he hasn't improved over the years. - bsteinley
Staal is better than at least 5 teams' #1 center. Toronto, Columbus, Calgary, Florida and Montreal. He's arguably better than any center on two teams currently still in the playoffs: New Jersey and Phoenix. |

Haven't seen Lovejoy play so I can't say anything.
I would prefer to send them a good D prospect and then supplement it through this years draft. Although I suppose that doesn't help Pittsburgh next year. |

I would consider changing the 2nd to a 1st. I have always thought Gorges would look good in a Pens sweater |

As a goalie, I know how those hits play in your head. You always think about those afterwards. It would not surprise me if he was thinking about it a lot, and not wanting a second concussion. |

Definitely an underrated player, mostly because you don't see what he brings unless you actually watch Habs games.
Would be tough to pull the trigger on though, Habs aren't exactly a stable defensive team |

No thanks, I'm not taking Kulemin who went from 30 to 7 in goals. He was a one year wonder. - PensMalkin71
He'll rebound this year, guaranteed. He's a talented two-way forward. This season was a blip in the radar. He would flourish in Pittsburgh.....he put up solid numbers playing with Geno in Russia. |

That wouldn't be too bad if he bounced back after those playoffs (not sure what his season was like this year).
I doubt the Habs make any big moves though to be honest. Their best bet right now is to look within and wait on development, and based on what Bergevin's said so far that seems to be where they're headed.
Staal would be nice though |

No, it isn't.
It's highly debatable whether or not Staal can be a true #1.
I'd rather keep the potential of Gardiner and our pick. |

Highly doubt Staal goes anywhere, especially in the off season. A FAR better option is to experiment (with permanent intention) to have Malkin/Crosby/Staal either rotate playing C/W on the top 2 lines, or to permanently move one of them to the wing (likely Malkin) - where the pens could also use some help. So that would solve the problem nicely For instance,
Kunitz - Crosby - Malkin
Neal - Staal - Kennedy
If Tangradi continues developing he could take over Kennedy's spot, and then we move Kennedy to 3rd line or trade him. We could get a good 4-5-6 D with grit for him. Dupuis could play instead of Kennedy as well, but I like him better on the 3rd line. |
