Uhh...2nd in the playoffs for goals isn't really that big of an accomplishment considering he's scored 2 this playoffs, I believe?
That being said...I think you're wrong?
......unless you mean career playoff points?? - Giroux_Is_God
Considering that only one defenseman in the entire NHL has scored more up to this point. It certainly is an accomplishment. What am I wrong about?

Would LOVE him.
We'd need to move a player or two to make it work though. |

Get him for a 5.5-6 million dollar long term deal, and I'm all for it.
Nothing exceeding 5 years though. |

You won't get him for that Cap hit in a 5 year deal.

(small sample size though, and no D man has really been that spectacular in offensee, esp. given that Carlson and Green have met the Rangers.)
I really meant Karlsson here |

He was useless in the playoffs. - NJFlyersFan
JVR = the new Carter. Always said their games were similar, except JvR doesn't have Carter's defensive presence. But JVR has been inconsistent as all get out, like that bum Carter always has been. JVR has had a rough year with the injury bug. If I am Holmer (I wouldn't be posting what I'd do on hockeybuzz.com) I would give JVR until the all-star next year to see how his game shapes up. I am sure the kid is pissed at his own season. If he slams it in the offseason as far as strength and conditioning and works on the weak areas of his game (defense, playing consistently physical) he may come out of this season a better player. If his game looks more consistent I'd be a bit more hesitant to move him. If he is still up and down, and only plays physical when it suits him, well I start looking for a trade that gets value back.
The Flyers are still a smallish team up front. Hartnell & Simmonds are the beef up front and they are not huge guys. JVR plays big sometimes but other times he plays small (like Carter...god that would infuriate me about that guy). He needs to consistently play BIG. I'd also like Holmer to bring in another big body up front. If he can upgrade Hartnell or Simmonds, great, but a big bodied grinding defensive minded forward would be fine too. |

Remains to be seen. I dont necessarily disagree with you, however I don't consider him a 7 million dollar dman. So 6-6.5 is the absolute highest I'd offer him on a contract, regardless of how long it is.

Nope. To keep his cap hit down, they'll have to sign him for 7+ years. |

See I always thought playoff totals were a bit skewed. At this point, it's definitely a small sample size, but moreover they're skewed because of course the player that's played say 6 more games than another will record more points.
For that reason, I've always looked at ppg. But that can also be skewed with such a small sample size |

First off, I didn't read the comments because I dread to see how bad Bryz, who was the Flyers only consistently effective player this series, is destroyed in here. Personally, I'm not on here to bash anyone on the team, but I do have some ideas of what I'd like to see happen and feel free to comment on them.
First, I'd like to bring back Jagr. I know he struggled this last series, but the impact he had on several of the young players was excellent and by all acounts he was a joy to be around. And while we are on that topic, Voracek needs to be back as well.
Next, it absolutely is time to do anything possible to get Kimmo to move on. I love him, but he just isn't a fit for this team anymore IMHO. I wonder if Anaheim for a pick would be an excellent place for him. He'd have warm weather, great town, and Koivu and Selanne there. I also feel (que MJL debate) that you trade Matt Carle's rights to the highest bidder around the draft. If Hamhuis could net a 3, there is no reason to believe Carle won't.
Sign Suter. If you increase the years, you may be able to get the hit to be 7 million or less. It's a must.
Lastly, here comes a move I'd love, but I don't know if Chicago would go for it. JVR and a 2nd for Brent Seabrook. Lowers their cap situation so they can move on a goalie and gives a real good all around defenseman who's young to pair with Suter. Give a nice young rook a shot at JVR's roster spot next season.
If the cap doesn't change and the bonus cushion is instituted again, assuming Pronger is done, this leaves the Flyers around 2 million in cap space. What do you think? |

Come on guys quit hurting Bryzgalov's feelings it's not his fault he had humongous huge GAA. I mean it's not the goalie's job to stop the puck. - NJFlyersFan

Hmmm, I seem to remember him saving the Flyers (frank)ing asses in games 2,3,4. Do you blame him for the WIDE OPEN look that Larssen had that change the series? Or the two wide open Devils that were BOTH not touched that gave the Devils that lead in Game 2. What about the 4 on 1 in overtime as both Gustaffson and Schenn looked back at the rush and decided to change anyway? Was it Bryz's fault that Sykora, Zidlicky, and Zubrus all scored on GLARING coverage gaps? So you're pissed about what happened on the 2nd goal tonight? Maybe Bryz should be pissed as the Flyers 3 times in this series went over 15 minutes without a shot. (frank)ing pathetic to blame Bryz. If the Flyers played with 1 ounce of balls in this series they would have won. It must be Bryz's fault that after game 1 the flyers scored a whopping ONE goal in the 2nd period and ONE goal in the 3rd. That's 4 (frank)ing games. But blame Bryz. |

Good News for Homer, not a lot of player to re-sign this summer. Plenty to hand out possible extensions but not many to worry about walking. No offense to Matt Carle but I do think it's for the best that we use his money else where. I also think it's for the best to do the same with Jagr. Then again, who's the biggest pure sniper on the market this summer? |
