Even there I have my doubts. Did you see him try a lot harder after his dumb penalty? Well, why was he not throwing his body around like that all game? I see an absence of intensity.
Speaking of which, I saw more intensity in Schenn and esp Read's game. Nice to see. Hard to believe Read will be 26 in a month! - PT21
It's very difficult to play with the intensity needed when you've been injured and was out for as long as he was. He was basically trying to play his way back into shape in a playoff setting. For some reason, some people don't want to take that into consideration. I look at JVR and how he played when he's healthy and is on top of his game. Plenty of intensity.

Pronger is never playing again. You can pretty much take it to the bank. - PLindbergh31
No one knows what his future holds. His fate could be like Lapierre and Primeau, or like Crosby or Bergeron. No one knows his concussion history before this year, it is not likely, but I'm not counting him out until Pronger says he is done. |

Ok. But if you consider his age, and look at it realistically you can come to a conclusion pretty easily. Do you think Marc Savard will play again? |

He doesn't think he ever had one, which is why when he had this one, he didn't realize he was concussed. He thought his lethargy was from being on bed rest and losing conditioning after the eye injury. It wasn't until he'd played a couple of games and became ill and dizzy on the flight home from Winnipeg that he knew he was in trouble. |

I hate injuries but what can you do they happen. |

Wow. - stveshdy
I don't really agree with that column, but that goal is just a microcosm of the season and Bryzgalov. Very good one minute, and awful the next. Need more consistency. And certainly better play in front of him. |

Its amazing how concussions affect people differently. Kind of scary. |

Again, I'm more closer to your view, however, like Primeau I fully expect Pronger to do everything he can to come back. I fully expect an update within a couple of days on how Pronger is doing -good or bad.
Eskin reported around the Pens game on Sunday that Lava went off, Pronger was feeling better and was going to see a specialist to see if he could increase physical activity. With it being so close to the playoffs, I didn't expect any further updates because it would be a distraction to the team. Eskin is arrogant, but actually does a better job then the beat reporters on breaking stories on the Flyers.
I'm not hopeful, but unwilling to close the door yet. |

I supported Bryzgalov all year but Ill be the first to say that I expected him to be much better than what his numbers showed this year. I'm not down on him bc playing in Philly is tough for any goalie and I truely believe this season was going to be his hardest. |

We will agree to disagree then. I see the potential for another Jeff Carter. Gifted, big, great hands, but: won't use body, can only lower his shoulder and go to the net when he is on goalie's left, weaker than you would expect along the boards, and in general sometimes disappears for long stretches. Much worse than Carter defensively though. I am ok waiting for another year .... |

Well, JVR is expendable after his showing this year. |

Fair points. Pronger has to do what's best for him. If he was a young player, I would say there is a good chance he can play again, he has nothing to prove, and has a family and young kids. That has to be his first priority, not the Flyers, or hockey. He's a young man in life, but an old man in the sport. |

I hope your right. I would love for JVR to become as good as Carter. That would be awesome. And would bode very well for the Flyers.

His numbers were far below expectations, and he allowed a good amount of soft goals, but the play in front of him was very suspect majority of the season. |

Agreed, I believe Pronger realizes that also. Homer has a lot of interesting decisions this summer with some of the older, established vets kind of blocking the ice time of the young guns particularly in the forwards. |

Add Briere to that trade list. He isn't worth 6.5 mil any more. |
