I like Laviolette, but I think he will be replaced sooner rather than later. Just not a big enough commitment to playing the defensive side of the puck. Might be more of a personnel issue than the coach, but it's easier to replace the coach.

He didn't play well thats for sure in fact he was like a ghost out there.

I think if you can make a series shorter it certainly can help, and will cut down on possible injuries, but I think you need to play hard the entire time to make those series' shorter. I thought they were just playing their up tempo system against Pitt. I don't think there was anything more than that in that series.

Their defensive lapses in their own zone were brutal. Game 4 two goals given up when guys are beaten to the back post is inexcusable in the playoffs. The Sykora and Zilicky goals, guys have to be covered they cannot be left that open, ridiculous. Devils players were left unmarked the entire series.

I'm not. It was a lost Season for JVR. I said it before he even came back. To expect him to play at a high level after missing that much time. Not realistic. He had numerous serious injuries. Let him have a healthy Season, hopefully, and then see what he can do.

It felt like EVERY pass was across the ice or into someone's skates. Crazy making.

And they did play harder tonight, but they played harder while looking like headless chickens.

I hope the people making the decision feel that way. I'd hate to give up on any of the young guys.

Yup, but I suppose he gets a pass based on injuries. It is hard to miss 7 weeks, and just be thrust into a playoff series. If he can't stay healthy and be productive next year, it certainly is fair to question his development.

Unless things go really bad in a Season. Laviolette isn't going anywhere. He did a great job this year. The team was completely changed with the trades. Numerous Rookies placed in key roles. Pronger lost for the Season. And he plays a style that Holmgren wants to play. He is in no danger of losing his job.

Some will, some won't.

Flyers had a good year, and the young guys got to taste some playoff victory and defeat. Good experience all around to grow from, which was really what this year was supposed to be about before the team gelled into something better than most expected. Losing sucks, but there's a lot to build off of. Last year they took a lot of steps backwards and that Boston series stung more than this one. Totally revamped roster was pretty good this year, and I expect it'll be even better the next.

Everything seemed rushed and a panic with the passes. I really believe they were beat mentally with the pressure of the Devils. It got in their heads imo.

True, trading JVR would be trading him for pennies on the dollar coming of this season. I want no part of Luke Schenn. Not sure anyone would trade a top d-man for JVR. He's more of a lottery ticket, then a given.

Yes it is. Takes bigger, younger guys longer to develop usually. Next year is monumental in his development. His cap hit triples. Can't carry his current production at a 4.25 number.

Laviolette's willingness to play the young guys and ability to build their confidence and games has been great to see. And it will serve the team well in the future.

Even there I have my doubts. Did you see him try a lot harder after his dumb penalty? Well, why was he not throwing his body around like that all game? I see an absence of intensity.

Speaking of which, I saw more intensity in Schenn and esp Read's game. Nice to see. Hard to believe Read will be 26 in a month!

The one thing I know for sure is that Homer wont sit on his hands and wait. Right now they will have Timonen, Mez, Coburn, and Grossmann.

Carle probably gone. Pronger career in jeopardy. Lilja depth defeseman. Kubina gone.

Gus needs more experience. MAB was decent player.
