Panthers didn't have to deal with the pens series before this - nails
I don't think that was a factor at all.
edit: except maybe that the Flyers got into some bad habits because of it. |

Statistics don't always tell the story, but the goaltending was technically worse than last years playoffs as hard as that is to believe. Alot of that is attributed to the lack of any semblance of defense, but once again their were numerous soft goals allowed. The game winning goal tonight, was as ridiculous a goal as anyone has ever seen. - PLindbergh31
completely disagree. do you rember how bad boucher was. 5 hole, side to side....goaltending was light years better this year |

i heard it happen live on the radio, and bundy was almost at a loss for words. you could tell it took every ounce of restraint he could muster. - hammarby31
That was nothing compared to the botched line change in OT.
That was the series right there. |

Bryzgalov made a ton of big saves in the playoffs. A lot of momentum saves. He did it in tonight's game also. Numerous saves that kept the team in the game. He was incredibly unfortunate on the Clarkson goal. I believe that Bryzgalov comes back next year and will have a huge Season. And will the the Goalie we saw in March. |

I don't know, anytime you play in a later round, the ones before it have an impact. |

i'm not killing him for, or even blaming him at all for the series loss. the series was lost in the absolute miserably failed pair of gift PP's prior to that in the OT session. |

That 5 goals allowed in 25 minutes or whatever in game 4 really skews his numbers. The poopty defense also skews his numbers. He let in some bad goals, but it seemed to generally happen in games where the rest of the team sucked anyways, or the team would win. I don't think he "cost" them a game |

And after that goal the entire team went through the motions the rest of the game. Totally zapped any life that was left out of them. The soft goals really have to stop. It just ridiculous. That being said, the goaltender isn't the reason they lost. Not by a long shot. |

I remember cringing every time the puck was shot at Boucher. With Bryz, there's always a chance for him to make an amazing save. He really played great tonight after the 2nd goal. |

Yes, I agree with you. Watching the games no question Bryzgalov was better than last year's goalie carousel, but the statistics were worse. GAA and save %. People who didn't watch the games will point this out. |

overall, i thought he was very good in this series. unfortunately he couldn't find that extra gear. honestly, his performance in march-early april prior to the injury shocked me. i didn't think he'd find his game to that level this year based on how the earlier months had done, especially after the WC debacle. so i'm pleased he did find his game, and we got to see it up close. i believe he'll be better next year as well. |

Well then shame on the entire team if that's the case. Which I don't think it is.

I thought they carried the play in the 2nd period, and generated more chances than the previous 3 games. I don't think they packed it in after that goal |

You know what, (frank) that. They had been going through the motions after game 1 of this series. You can blame Bryz all you want, but even if that goal hadn't of gone in, they would've still struggled to score a 2nd goal. |

Didn't seem to matter did it?
I think the toll of playing that way against the pens was greater than was apparent at the end of the series. |

I don't think so either. I think they played a much better game then games 2,3, and 4.

Playing what way against the Pens? Aggressive? That's supposedly their style. If they can't sustain that through multiple playoff rounds because they get tired, they better find a new style. |

The problem is, the remaining goalies in the playoffs also made those incredible saves but did not have the random lows. |
