It was really close. It looked like it was, but the ref was on the far side, and it was one of those close ones that could go either way. - _Zippy_

I just don't get it. Bryz made a bad play, and Kimmo made a bad play right before. I'd put it more on Bryz but look... he's the only reason they were even in the last two games. He's bailed the team out plenty this series, and they haven't taken advantage. It's time for the team to dig down and bail him out. These fans, announcers, etc. just sitting around waiting to jump on any little mistake Bryzgalov makes boggles my mind. And then they go and over analyze everything, saying his head wasn't in the game in the entire period. Who are the real space cadets here? |

Two periods of hockey left. The Flyers need to continue to play the same way. Two bad breaks. Have to move on and get one back. I thought the Flyers did a great job in that first period. Playing with more heart and passion. - stveshdy
A lot of energy ... Harts and Rinaldo were running everybody ... I wouldn't be surprised if Rinaldo gets a suspension for that hit on Volchenkov ... not deserving but because of his rep ... he did launch himself at him leaving the ice surface , but he did make contact with the chest, so who knows? |

Then cover it up rather than force the pass. - 77rams
He could of done that. But he was put in a bad spot. Timonen is the cause of the play. Timonen turned a routine play into a goal.

Honestly, I thought it was offside. The puck was still on the blue when Poni picked his leg up. - rmdevil313

[quote=MJL]Not wow Bryzgalov. Wow Timonen. That goal is on Timonen. That is an absolutely piss poor decision to pass that puck back to the net. Timonen has the puck high in the zone and a simple chip out. Instead he sends it back to Bryzgalov who has a player right on him. Bryzgalov is not a strong puck handler. And it was a luck
Poor play in a poor period by Kimmo. But if Bryz cannot pass, can he not cover up? - PT21
The controversy takes the focus off an awful goal. |

y? when did they start passing to bryz? esp with a forechecker? i'm sick of this backward passing crap, shold have just chipped it up off the glass and out. bryz had 2 options he had to make in a split second. cover it or shoot it to the corner immediately. he choose the latter and it hit the shaft of the devils stick and went directly backwards into the net. i bet if bryz does that 10 more times, all 10 times it doesnt deflect right into the net - dillpx183
Well said.

Whether or not Timmonen should've passed it back to Bryz is debatable. What isn't is that Bryz had a ton of time. The man who peeled in on Bryz was the one on Timmonen, the only one in the Flyers zone. Bryz had the puck on his stick in plenty of time and plenty of options. He chose poorly. You think a poor stick handler would've tried the safe play instead of the fancy one. The goal is on Bryz. |

That goal is purely on Timonen.
Sorry to all the Bryz bashers out there, but you never hand it back to the goaltender unless he's Marty Brodeur. - KGBflyers10
Mostly Timo ... but just a careless play by Bryz as well.
oh well ... this too shall pass.

If an offsides is a couple inches off, the territory gain most likely doesn't really effect the play one way or the other, so IMO it's moot to really care much about it. Players/fans need to just move on |

Dude, that's all on Bryz. He had plenty of time to move the puck and screwed it royally. Timonen had the guy on him, Bryz had nobody around him initially. - wolfhounds
Agreed. But somehow I don't think you'll convince MJL of that...he'll argue to the death even if (when) he's wrong. |

CBC had a slow mo that showed it was clearly offside. Gary Galley was talking about that and the deflection off Simmons, then they showed Lavi giving it to the officials saying it was offside. - guinness22
By no means was it clearly offsides.
Offsides, perhaps, but close enough that I couldn't really blame the linesman for the lack-of-call. |

its not the first time kimmo has used the goalie on a back pass to reverse the puck flow, but bryz held it instead of going to the far boards
it may be the last time kimmo tries that though |

No he didn't have a ton of time. Clarkson was right on him. He tried to do what Timonen should have done. Chip it out off the glass. If it was Brodeur who is an excellent puck handler, I would agree with you. But Bryzgalov isn't, and never has been. - MJL
I know Bryz is not an amazing puckhandler, but as a defenseman, you gotta hope that your goalie can bail you out. When Timmonen hit it back to Clarkson, Clarkson was right on his ass. Clarkson had to skate from the blue line to Bryz, and Bryz had that time to make a smarter play. Hell, he could've put it in the corner.
What you can say is that maybe Timmonen didn't give him a good enough outlet pass, like if Timonen moved into the corner, Bryzgalov might've had a better passing lane, but regardless, to try to put a puck through an oncoming player is stupid. |
