He had no choice but to get the puck out of there.
And Meszaros does not look good at all. He looks tentative and slow. - MJL
Still not as bad as Grossman and Gustaffson. Man those 2 are just awful in this series |

Bryz had a ton of time to make the right play. He tried to force it. He could've easily played it up the boards either way. - _Zippy_
that is what I saw too, bryz just waited too long
at the same time I hate passing it back to a goalie who struggles with handling the puck |

bullpoop. You are wrong. That is all. He could easily put it behind - ukeman
Yeah there was another player right on the other side he could have passed it to ... instead he shoots it right at Clarkson coming at him. |

Puck seems to be following Talbot tonight.
Was the first NJ goal offsides? - Marc D
Even in slow motion with several angles, it was hard to tell. |

Not wow Bryzgalov. Wow Timonen. That goal is on Timonen. That is an absolutely piss poor decision to pass that puck back to the net. Timonen has the puck high in the zone and a simple chip out. Instead he sends it back to Bryzgalov who has a player right on him. Bryzgalov is not a strong puck handler. And it was a luck bounce for the Devils. Just an awful play by Timonen. - MJL
On both. Awful decision to pass it back but Bryz just watched him forecheck up to him and tried to shoot it right past him |

Two periods of hockey left. The Flyers need to continue to play the same way. Two bad breaks. Have to move on and get one back. I thought the Flyers did a great job in that first period. Playing with more heart and passion. |

No he didn't have a ton of time. Clarkson was right on him. He tried to do what Timonen should have done. Chip it out off the glass. If it was Brodeur who is an excellent puck handler, I would agree with you. But Bryzgalov isn't, and never has been.

CBC had a slow mo that showed it was clearly offside. Gary Galley was talking about that and the deflection off Simmons, then they showed Lavi giving it to the officials saying it was offside. |

I can't, in any way shape or form, pin that play on Timo. A Pee Wee goaltender wouldn't try and make that play. - 77rams
Agreed. |

y? when did they start passing to bryz? esp with a forechecker? i'm sick of this backward passing crap, shold have just chipped it up off the glass and out. bryz had 2 options he had to make in a split second. cover it or shoot it to the corner immediately. he choose the latter and it hit the shaft of the devils stick and went directly backwards into the net. i bet if bryz does that 10 more times, all 10 times it doesnt deflect right into the net |

perhaps a bit ... really close, though.
kind of hard for me to complain considering the gift of Briere's offside goal last series.

Dude, that's all on Bryz. He had plenty of time to move the puck and screwed it royally. Timonen had the guy on him, Bryz had nobody around him initially. - wolfhounds
Absolutely not. Timonen is a defenseman who is used to handling the puck with pressure. The safe play is bank the puck out, not send it back to your own goal with a forechecker right there. Just a brutal decision by Timonen.

Then cover it up rather than force the pass. |

It was really close. It looked like it was, but the ref was on the far side, and it was one of those close ones that could go either way. |

Poor play in a poor period by Kimmo. But if Bryz cannot pass, can he not cover up? |

Honestly, I thought it was offside. The puck was still on the blue when Poni picked his leg up. |

I saw a little more effort. But the same issues are present. At this point it looks impossible to rip off 3 in a row against them which is all I care about. |

That goal is purely on Timonen.
Sorry to all the Bryz bashers out there, but you never hand it back to the goaltender unless he's Marty Brodeur. |

Goaltenders at the squirt level make that play without a problem. Timonen made the safe play, had he tried something else he could have turned the puck over in his own zone. |
