I'll cut him slack due to his injury... I'll start to judge the guy after next season. If he ends up in the NHL, where do you see him playing? 3rd liner? - laughs2907
A good 3rd liner. Comparisons (statistically justified) from the Copper and Blue compared him to Ryan Kesler. I might compare him to Shawn Horcoff or Jarret Stoll. |

I see the 2nd line potential now. Should be able to fit into the bottom 6 by the end of next year if he continues to grow. Sounds like he has jumped everyone and would be the first callup if the Oilers were still playing meaningful hockey. |

I was thinking a winger version of Stoll. I don't know how good he is at center at this point. |

Various Edmonton media suggested he might be more comfortable playing center. I've almost exclusively seen him on the wing though, so that might be where he ends up.
This whole conversation went completely off the rails. All I was trying to get at is that the Oilers have the pieces to get Stewart, and that I don't think they'd have to overpay to get him. I'm with you though, if the price is too high, we'd be better to pass. |

He's played all 3 positions and is excelling on the right side right now. It also depends which Edmonton media you speak of, some don't even know that he is playing wing.
With that being said, off the rails? This whole thread is off the rails. |

When we bench Gagner in a season where he plays terribly and is due a raise and we're shopping him, those are some of the offers I'd expect to get.
Although you're speaking hyperbolically, as Reasoner and a 4th are the bottom of the barrel in terms of what we were suggesting. - Morris
Brock Nelson, Marty Reasoner and a 4th = Pitlick, Belanger, Omark.

How on earth is Pitlick > Nelson?
Belanger migh be a bit more value then Reasoner, but I'd also argue Omark is worth less then a 4th. |

Exactly, and you wouldn't want to trade Gagner for Nelson, an old 4th liner and 4th/5th round pick. - Zombie
Gagner is a different scenario than Stewart though. Gagner has a role on our team and we don't need to move him. |

Various Edmonton media suggested he might be more comfortable playing center.
Various Edmonton media think that Omark can be qualified then left hanging.
Or think that Hall, Eberle & Hopkins will be the Oilers Numba 1 line for the next dozen years.
Or that getting Jones means that Tambo isn’t completely hopeless.
And so on.
And on.

You aren't looking at this in the right way.
Stewart is a player who doesn't fit in with STL. He is a RFA that is going to have to be qualifed at over 3.3mil, that in itself hurts. - Lahey
I think you are right. STL has to resign Perron and Oshie and for Stewart to maybe go to arbitration, he will be given the same for one year. Not sure does STL want to give Stewart $3M+ anymore, rather split that amount and give them to Perron and Oshie plus have to resign or replace Arnott. |
