And obviously the fact that as of today it seems that Hall won't make the team proves that at that time there was no chance Taylor Hall could make the team.

I'm not saying he'll make the team... Just saying my left nut has more hockey knowledge than the entire HNIC panel.

Watched "after forty" last night, when the panelists each listed off their "locks" and "on the bubble" players for Team Canada.

Taylor Hall's name did not appear anywhere on anyone's list.

I'm not gonna point fingers as to who wrote the post, but there is something incredibly laughable about it, and I'll give you guys a hint as to what it is. You have to wonder about the intelligence level of who wrote this. It really must be a complete brain lapse, because it's possibly one of the most stupid things written on this site in some time......

In my opinion, these forwards are (in no particular order) higher on the Canadian depth chart than anyone not listed.

I did not list Rick Nash, as he is out for an indeterminable amount of time. As far as I know at this time, these players are all healthy.

Sidney Crosby
Jonathan Toews
Steven Stamkos
John Tavares
Claude Giroux
Eric Staal
Corey Perry
Ryan Getzlaf
Logan Couture
Patrick Sharp
Martin St. Louis
Patrice Bergeron
Patrick Marleau
Matt Duchene
Joe Thornton
Jason Spezza
Chris Kunitz
Tyler Seguin

I'll let the rest of you digest this.

Ha. U were totally proven wrong!!
U said from the start he was a for sure lock!!!and now if he doesnt make it ur gonna look silly.
the rest of us have been vindicated!!

Maybe next time u wont make such definitive statements.
I bet ur feeling foolish right now.

OR WAIT A MINUTE!!!

You never said anything of the sort. U made a reasonable and intelligent remark from the very beginning! which was and still is 100% true.

It's doppleganger that's an idiot. And he still cant grasp the simple concept you attempted to make.
Of course!
That makes WAYYY more sense

he said he was Edmonton's best shot at having a Canadian on the team.

I said he would not make the team......................we'll see tomorrow.

"at the time" Hall had just been injured, and I suggested that the injury would have squashed any chance he'd make the team.

Perhaps I was right...................we'll see tomorrow.

This just shows that injuries play into the selection of the players tomorrow. If any of those players had a great start to the season and was a leading scorer in the league, they would have climbed the depth chart. (see- Claude Giroux)

Pretty sure you said hall had no chance of making it before the injury.

Edit:

Yeah your full of poop.

Here is the list of forwards that were invited to the orientation camp from Aug. 25-28 in Calgary. Keeping in mind each players projected "role" on the final roster, do you really think he had a realistic chance of making the final cut?

Now of course there will be players who are now injured, not playing up to expectations, and others who may play themselves onto the roster who were not invited.

I would suggest that Hall was one of a few younger players who were invited to be part of the program, for the future, not this current Olympics.

Patrice Bergeron
Jeff Carter
Logan Couture
Sidney Crosby
Matt Duchene
Jordan Eberle
Ryan Getzlaf
Claude Giroux
Taylor Hall
Chris Kunitz
Andrew Ladd
Milan Lucic
Brad Marchand
Rick Nash 6'4"
James Neal
Corey Perry
Michael Richards
Patrick Sharp
Eric Staal
Jordan Staal
Martin St. Louis
Steven Stamkos
John Tavares
Joe Thornton
Jonathan Toews

Please make your argument, if ALL these forwards were 100% healthy and playing up to expectations, who would NOT make the final team if Hall did.

- Doppleganger

He was invited, but did not have a reasonable chance to make the team in my opinion.

There are a few players, not invited in August, that are currently playing better than Hall and may be considered higher on the depth chart today.

But now that he's injured, he probably will be sitting at home, watching games in the middle of the night with those fans who will be doing the same.

Also, the fact that he doesn't make the team does not prove in any way that Hall "did not have a reasonable chance to make the team".

It's funny you should mention that because Hall has had a great start to the season, and is among the leading Canadian scorers. He's had as good or better start than approximately half of that list:
Marleau
Bergeron
Seguin
Staal
Duchene
St Louis
Couture
Giroux
Spezza

Spezza should be nowhere near the list. They could put together three team Canadas and he wouldn't make it. He was demoted to the third line in Ottawa at one point earlier this year, and Dopps still yaps about him making Team Canada ahead of Taylor Hall.

As far as pecking order....

13 forwards (probably not Hall)

Hall and some other players

many more forwards.

More forwards.

A few more.

Spezza.
Colton Orr.

Hall probably shouldn't make the team this year. Duchene has been streakier but has shown more potential to fit in with the guys they're already taking. If the discussion is between young guy in Hall or an old hat like St Louis for the final roster spot, I'd go with experience here as well. Heck, even from the poopshow that is Ryan Wilson's thread the idea that Kunitz has excellent chemistry with Crosby might make him a better utility guy than Hall this time around.

That being said, I have no idea what set Dopps off about me simply saying that Hall represented Edmonton's best chance to have an Oiler on Team Canada. Especially to go as bold as to claim Spezza was on the list.

Yup. Reasonable post. He's actually been avoiding the Spezza comment since.

Hall probably shouldn't make it this time. Maybe next. But he's way way WAY ahead of Spezza on the depth chart. There is an argument for Hall. Not that POS Spezza. Spezza doesn't make a second team Canada.
