What's his deal? Another concussion?
- funmaster18

As per CBSSports.com:

Kings' Gagne No Longer Skating In Return From Concussion: Simon Gagne (concussion) hasn't skated recently and would appear that his season is effectively over, the LA Kings Insider reports.

Gagne's long-term future is a bit cloudy now as he's had a number of concussions in his career but we'll have to wait on that until the summer it would appear. (Updated 04/20/2012)

I think one, and perhaps the only, thing I can think of against Homer not being up for the award is the luck factor. For the current candidates, their success has been a gradual, month-after-month process. Did Homer show balls, sure. Giant balls. But coming up a winner, was that all acumen and eye for talent or was it a lot of luck aka a good day at the slots? Consider this: He brought in Schenn, Couts, Voracek, Simmer, Jagr, Read amongst forwards and ALL have exceeded expectations almost from the get-go (Schenn after coming back from all those injuries). Bryz is more mixed but he has generally delivered more often than not. Then he brings in Grossmann and bingo, another instant success. Could he really have known all these players would be such successes?
- PT21

Yes he could of. Or he wouldn't have dealt for them.

It's official -- Kovalchuk out of lineup tonight for NJ with the groin pull.
- bmeltzer

Hmm
I'm worried about this, I think this helps the Devils.
When James Neal was suspended for a game the Pens beat the Flyers.
Rather have an ineffective Kovy in the line up.

I'm also glad we didn't trade JVR!

- Hextall271

Articles like that bug me. I for one don't believe for a second that the Flyers were considering trading JVR.

Extremely well said. And definitely with Carle. He again made a strong play that contributed to a game winning OT playoff goal. And not a whisper is said. The only time something is said towards Carle is if makes a mistake. Hell even Jody Shelley is still being criticized. And he has done zero to deserve it. I'm amazed when I see him brought into conversation out of no where.
- MJL

I do that for a laugh sometimes. But he has no bearing on what is going on at this point.

As for Carle I've always stood up for him. I think he's a heckuva 3-4 defenseman that can play 1-2 spot and usually does so pretty well. I'm not so quick to let him walk. I love it when people will tell you he turns the puck over multiple times a game but still has less turnovers than there are games. I would like to learn that math.

Honestly who the hell cares about Richards and Carter. The Flyers have Game 2 against the Devils tonight. I dont care if those two score 100 goals bc it means nothing if their not wearing a Flyers uniform. Time to turn the page on these guys. The future is bright and im more concerned about who we have then who we dont.

This is not specifically at you. Thanks.

The Neal and other suspensions were rallying points for the Pens. An "us against the world" thing.

Not sure the IK injury has the same effect.

Carle will never get his fair due in this town. He's like a past recent player who's last name also begins with a C. He's just not this town's type of player. They like physical players here, who hit and play mean. Like Grossmann. Who's a very good player and a solid addition. But he's already gained folklore status here. Because of being good and the type of player he is, compared to Carle.

It's stil compelling, IMO, that the two top centers and former future of our team are taking their new team on a cup run while the young players we got help lead our team as well. It's hard not to be interested in that storyline, IMO.

While I do agree with this, some will argue that Kimo isn't that type of player yet he is loved here. What people have to understand is, this isn't 1974 anymore. You need a variety of skill sets on your blueline not just a bunch of bone crushing shutdown types. I thought they would have been awakened to this in 97 but oh well.

They really aren;t the centerpieces in that run though. I'd say the Kings would be where they are without those two. It seems like, stoll, Brown, Kopitar, Quick etc. are the hub of that team, not Richards and Carter. Carter just got his first goal of the playoffs last night.

I think the Kovy injury will really help us. They are a good offensive team but not great like Pitt. We can put Sean on Elias and Grossmann on Parise. Or switch them. I think with our decent defensive depth and our very strong forward depth, we could possible put a hurting on them tonight. Their D is beginning to show signs of wear and tear also. They are by no means done or out the series. Far from that, but our shut downs can now focus on others in this game. It only helps I think.

Maybe, but Timonen was a top free agent signing who is/was a #1 defenseman. And let's face it, Carle isn't what Timonen was in his prime when he first came here.
