This slight pales in comparison when Homer brought the league's last place team that he acquired 8 games into the 2006-07 season to the ECF the next year.

He wasn't named a finalist in 2008 either (Bruce Boudreau won it with Guy Carbonneau, Montreal and Mike Babcock, Detroit as the other finalists).

They didn't have a GM of the year award then. That's the Jack Adams for coach of the year

The Flyers rarely get the credit they deserve. Although those guys are coaches not GMs. Not buying into any conspiracy theory or any nonsense like that, but they rarely seem to win the NHL hardware; Stanley Cup not withstanding!

One of the tee shirt sites is selling tee shirts that do a play on rapper Lil B, who calls himself the Based God, using Giroux instead. Lame joke

Oooops, That's right. Gotta stop doing three things at one time before I post.

Edit: it was Stevens that got slighted.

I'm rooting for the Kings out west SPECIFICALLY because of Carter, Richards, Williams, and Hextall.

I would love nothing better than to see a Kings/Flyers final.

I can because there is no doubt of who I would be rooting for in that final. But if the Flyers go away, and the Kings are still in it, I am rooting for the Kings.

I bear no ill will for either Richards or Carter. I think, especially Carter, got unfairly scapegoated here for his entire career. Ridiculous criticisms in my opinion. He deserved some criticism, but not to the level he was vilified here, for stuff that was absolute nonsense. It was like someone started a whispering campaign against him. I see a lot of the same kind of stuff with Carle.

As for Richards, I think he was a great heart and soul player who was in a position (captain) that he might not have been comfortable in in terms of all the off ice stuff that comes with it. But on the ice, when he was healthy, he was a site to behold.

Ill root for those guys for sure.

Carter and Richards would be the only real focal point in that series. But I really couldn't care any less about them now than I did after they were traded. I'd just be ecstatic that we were in the finals.

My main worry if we both make it there would be Quick, not Richards, who is having a good PO to date, or Carter, who is not.

I also have to admit that I would make some money if it were Kings/Flyers because that was my preseason bet with my brother back in September.

I think one, and perhaps the only, thing I can think of against Homer not being up for the award is the luck factor. For the current candidates, their success has been a gradual, month-after-month process. Did Homer show balls, sure. Giant balls. But coming up a winner, was that all acumen and eye for talent or was it a lot of luck aka a good day at the slots? Consider this: He brought in Schenn, Couts, Voracek, Simmer, Jagr, Read amongst forwards and ALL have exceeded expectations almost from the get-go (Schenn after coming back from all those injuries). Bryz is more mixed but he has generally delivered more often than not. Then he brings in Grossmann and bingo, another instant success. Could he really have known all these players would be such successes?

Uh-Oh, None of that addition by subtraction stuff here folks!!

But for some reason I think this makes them more dangerous, chalk it up to my Philly sports attitude (Nothing is guaranteed till it happens).
