I mean come on, it's the spitting image of the proper phrase. Of course, here come the grammar police calvary to rain in our fun.

It's either feast or phantom
for all intensive purposes
have a pit my stomach
it takes two to tangle
tow the line
another thing coming

I'm sure many have favorites of their own.

I will admit that I though it was "deep seeded" meaning planted deep but it is, in fact, deep seated. I still don't get why.

Walkom is nowhere as bad as Lee. There has never, ever been a referee in any sport, that is as bad as Chris Lee.

I know! But I was just sharing. Maybe it is part of being a grumpy old person. However, I think I always felt this annoyed about them, so probably not.

We've already had days when we went through all the malapropisms that show up on the net all the time from people learning the language aurally and not by reading.

Bill,

From a previous post - it sound like you're at the game and have press-pass seating (?)... I'm curious, who among the x-flyers are there? There's obviously those that are still connected to the Flyers that will be there (Clarke, etc..). What made me think to ask, was the TV shot of Mark and Gordie Howe in the box the last game. And, has Pronger been going to games or would that cause an un-needed circus.

Conversation came up the other day about Renberg's sports hernia in 1995-96 that negatively affected the rest of his career. I forgot that when he had sports hernia surgery in 1995 preseason, he was back in the lineup (opening night in Montreal) just 10 days post-op! Then when he tore it again in December, he suffered a complete muscle separation from the pubic bone and still played that way -- poorly -- for an entire month until the pain was finally too much take in the first game back from the All-Star break.

For the rest of the season and post-season, when he did play, they numbed the lower half of his body with a gigantic needle injected somewhere too cringe-worthy to even describe.

He never had the same skating jump again, even after post-season surgery and so-called "complete healing". If he had sat out the 6-8 weeks in the first place during the preseason, he may never have had the second, complete tear.

At any rate, the thought of sports hernia surgery being a 10-day injury would seem utterly impossible just seven years later. Back then, no one made a big deal out of just how much Renberg rushed -- with team approval -- to play in October.

he was never the same player after that.

One of my high school acquaintances (and current Facebook friend) is also a big Penguins fan. He is so disheartened by the Pens loss that he bought a Parise shirt to wear while the Flyers face the Devs. I am pretty sure he hates the Fyers more than he likes the Pens. You'd never ever catch me in the colors of any other Eastern conference team (especially one in the Atlantic) just because they were an obstacle to the Pens advancing in the playoffs.

It has gotten so bad for him that he has also resorted to watching the NBA.

He wrote this on his FB wall recently: "...Lebron has been diving to draw fouls."

Now that is rich coming from a fan of Crosby and Letang.

Yes, I'm in PB for all home games. Pronger has only been to the one game, as a guest in Snider's private suite. Mark Howe is here almost every game, scouting for Red Wings during regular season and as guest of Flyers during postseason. Bill Barber, still loosely affiliated with Flyers, is often here (he's here tonight). Others come through from time to time, obviously including Flyers-employed scouts and other employees such as Ilkka Sinisalo, Dave Brown, etc. It was a great surprise to see Pelle Eklund at a game last month!

i'm sure he didn't need the skate to the face either. what a mess.
- hammarby31

Yup, or his right bicep sliced by the propeller of his dad's boat, or the infected left hand that almost had to be amputated, or the two separated shoulders or the broken thumb or broken left hand or the back issues late in his career.

He had the most miserable luck with injuries -- especially freak ones -- that I ever saw.

acquiring one of his gameworn jerseys is turning out to be harder than crossing the bridge of death.

Thanks! Any sighting of Primeau and Ian Lappy? I've worried about those guys. I guess it depends if they are local guys or not.

Lappy is usually here. He still works with the team.

Primeau comes every once in awhile, but sits in suite, not PB.

Petr Svoboda was there for game 3 (maybe 4, but I'm pretty sure I was happy before I saw him, so probably 3). Saw him in the concourse with his wife and another couple.
