Ok, here's a trade proposal: Lu, Raymond, Bieksa + our 1st (22nd) for Reimer, Gardiner and Kessel + your 1st (5). Fair value for both teams, we trade underachieving horrible goaltenders being run out of town by the fans, small cherry picking forwards with no heart or drive and can barely stand on their skates, and our second best defensemen. Plus picking 5th you aren't going to get a #1 center anyways since both Grigorenko and Galchenyuk will go before you pick and there's a huge drop off in forward talent after Galchenyuk and you have more than enough defensemen already.

Ummm, not sure this is fair value......this is a a rape on Vancouvers part....

Why are you trolling a guy that could very well be on your team next year? And Luongo would be the best goalie that Toronto has had in nearly 10 years.

So what do you expect to get for him?

Equal/Higher salary back in a shorter contract, maybe a pick/prospect.

But I don't necessarily think the deal with involve just Lou. Other players could be packaged. I think it's going to be surprising, whatever happens.

I'd venture to say he'd be the best goalie they've had post expansion, except for a few guys who were past their prime.

Wow, that went downhill in a hurry.

I think Lu will fetch a decent prospect and a pick or a top-6 forward and a middling prospect.

The thing is, Lu's cap hit is not that high. If guys like Hemsky are making $5m, Lu looks like a bargain. Grabovski just signed for $5.5m to be a 2nd line centre. Hell, Renne is up for a cap hit of $7m next season and I don't think you'll find anyone arguing that Renne is 25% better than Lu.

The market will exist for Lu because he's a very good player and teams need good goaltending. It won't be a huge steal for Vancouver, but Lu will command some reasonable assets and a GM will be happy to pay for him. If there is even 2 teams interested, how do you let the other team win him without offering something realistic? Vancouver might not have a lot of leverage in the situation but there are GMs out there who need to make the playoffs and a goalie like Lu will save their jobs. You pay what you have to to get a top goalie when he becomes available.

Just like it detracted from Nash's value....thank you, come again......

It probably did detract from Nash's value so they hung on and waited.

I have always maintained that Lu alone would be able to gather one of, or a combo of: A top 4 D/top 9 forward or one(or more) of mid-level prospect/project (like a Billy Sweatt/Yann Sauve type) and a 2nd round/3rd round pick. However that clears the way to send some of those pieces to another team as part of a bigger deal. It's entirely feasible to see a 3 or even a 4 team deal with Lu being part of it to make it all work and get a more attractive package.

Talking common sense on here doesn't go over well......... You'll shock there systems if you give it to them all at once.

It's best to speak their language like "Yeah I believe Luongo should get something like Eberle and Edmontons first overall pick for Luongo"

Once you've gotten their attention, then you slowly ease them into reality as to not scare them away.......

- Sheppy99

There is no talking common sense to someone who thinks Reimer gives you a better chance than Luongo or that Kessel is > Kesler.

Careful. An Oiler or Leaf fan will turn that into "Canucks fans expect Johansen and the 2nd overall, or Malkin and Despres . . ."

We'll have to see what his return is. Still, his cap hit is nearly 50% bigger than Lu's. That's a huge contract. Lu's is pretty reasonable in comparison. Even Campbel's cap hit was nearly $2m more than Lu's. Lu has a very fair cap hit and his deal is only long to make the hit better. He won't play for $1m at 40.

Rather have Neal than Dupres... Crosby over Malkin... maybe we can toss in Raymond and Ballard and get Stall and Letang while we're at it
