Leino will be gone if the amnesty clause that has been talked about for one player on each team comes true after the new CBA is finalized. |

That amnesty clause to me is a decent idea but leaves WAAAAAAY too much room for GMs to throw stupid money at the free agent flavor of the week. I'm sure there is a limit to how often it can be used but itnopens the door for contracts that are stupider than the stupid one we are seeing now. |

More like a casualty due to lack of talent. Gerbe is an AHL lifer. |

The proposal is for a one-time amnesty
They won't dump Leino to use that trump card. |

Gerbe has plenty of talent and is a pain in the ass to play against. He plays with a fire and he does have offensive skills. Ruff just doesn't give him players that will help him use the offensive skills he does have. |

Naaw Lindy's in love with him. He will be there. I wish Gerbe the best but I think he is holding us back. In the last 2 seasons he has been invisible for 1.5 of them. That can't happen. |

I agree with the first part, but the effectiveness of his skills will be forever limited by his size. Ennis has a different, more valuable skill set. Ultimately this roster doesn't have room for both of them.
Now, if you could transplant Gerbe's desire and occasional aggressive play into the waste of skin named Derek Roy |

I'm ok with keeping him in the role that he was basically given this year. He was on the line that was responsible for shutting down the oppositions top line. He seemed to do a good job on that line and he causes other teams to lose their heads and take penalties. |

He's a great backchecker and an even better pest. I love the guy. Problem with the Sabres is, its not that they don't have talent. You have to have the right kind of talent, spread out across your roster and everyone on the same page doing thier job. Look at the recent cup winners, its not just 4 lines of Marian hossa's out there. Its goal scorers, setup guys, stay at home d-men, offensive d men, pests, penalty killers all hitting thier stride and taking care of business like a well oiled machine.
That being said I dont think that Gerbe doesn't belong on Buffalo or in the NHL, but the roster has to be balanced. Which of course brings us back to our conclusion from last year. Is Lindy objectively evaluating the talent and using it to the best of its ability? |

That stuff is fine, but as guys like Tropp begin to fill those roles Gerbe becomes more marginal. |

Zackly!
I'm really excited about what Tropp and Foligno bring to the table. And they are both very young still too. I think the positives outweigh the negatives for next year. |

Or, looking at the salary structure on the wings, does Darcy understand that himself when he's putting this team together? |

Why not? maybe you give him one more year, but I'd jump at the chance to remove 4.5M off the books at no cost. |

No he doesn't. That what hockey heaven is. When great players take pay cuts to acheive a goal together. |

Naw they'll screw that up. The second that rule becomes legit callers will flood GR with phone calls begging for them to cut Leino. And in typical Sabres fashion they will go against what is so obvious. Its like they do it to spite the fans. |
