Another example of class, go look at the comments. 2nd comment was from Blake Gefferion (sp). That kid has some class

You are soooo right... I hated to see him go... I understood, but I hated it.

A great article indeed, but if that were truly Geoffrion posting that comment I would hope he could spell his own name.

(I'm ragging on the poster, not you... I always have to look it up to be sure.)

This is the first I've heard about the Joel Ward incident, and I just wanted to throw in my two cents. Joel Ward is one of the hardest working players we've ever been privileged to have on the Nashville Predators. You could not ask for someone to come out every night and play with more heart than Joel Ward. We are forever in his debt here in Nashville, because he gave us something that no one else ever had, our first second round series. You could say that it wasn't just Joel, but Joel scored more goals than anyone else on our team in last year's playoffs. He scored the tying goal in our last game against Anaheim, pushing us to an OT win. Folks here were heartbroken when the Preds were unable to offer Joel the contract he deserved last summer. I was at his first game back here in a Capitals uniform, and the guy got a two minute standing ovation. I'm not surprised he scored the game winner for the Caps, because that's just the kind of player he is--the hard worker who brings in the timely goals. Joel is the kind of player that fans love to root for. Anyone who has a bad word to say about Joel cannot truly be a fan of our sport, because a real fan always appreciates seeing hockey played at its highest level and Joel is a player who consistently elevates the game.

WOW - I liked Ward as well....but geeze. $3 Million for 6 goals - Id say that K was not "well deserved". Great playoff goal this year, but remember a lot of his playoff goals last year were deflections which came off his arse. Being in position - but not that skilled. In addition his play last season was sporadic at best. He was a good role player for us - something we have a plethora of. Crappy what those idiots said and kudos for him being a bigger man. But...seriously - take off those rose colored glasses.

Anyhoo...Tonight will be a gauge of this series.
Need to:
Match speed
Clear zone efficiently
Better line changes
Get inside shots on Smith
Need to see more out of the first line

Another great article on Brent Peterson's battles with Parkinson's at TSN.

This is a good read, and really shows what a class organization the Predators are. I'm so proud to be a fan of this team.

Doesn't get much better than this story and you certainly don't get much better than Brent Peterson. Definitely nothing but class from all involved.

Oh, and Paul, 2 out of 8!

Hope Smith gets the in the lineup tonight. I feel like he earned a place today in Game 5, which to me is impressive because a vet like Tootoo didn't take advantage of his chance to impress.

Like to see 33......if anything after 3 rounds of the playoffs being benched to see how he would respond.

The Preds have been good at learning from past mistakes. They are here today because of :
Under sized to San Jose
Letting opponents get in our heads
Short handed goal panic move Chicago
Just being happy to win the first round

Any chance a year from now we will be saying "We were over confident round 2 2012 and lost; we will not do that again in 2013"?

I say we skip that mistake and worry about what St Louis / LA Kings have to offer.

Here's a link to the story at TSN. Pretty despicable comments.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=394312

Interesting how so many wagging media tongues on the left and east coasts like to look down their snobby noses at those of us in the South (and the Midwest) as backward, uneducated, racist boobs, yet most of the really ignorant and poor behavior comes from those intellectually superior (haha) regions. Think OWS shenanigans, rioting/vandalism/arson, racist comments, idleness, whining nanny-state syndrome, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc) Legends in their own minds.

It's a free country, thankfully, and people can say what they want. Interesting that they are dumb enough to actually post such comments however ... kind of like the Secret Service agents and their public posting gaffes.

Once an idiot always an idiot I guess. DNA and all of that.

So true. It feels to me like they found a target at whom they could spew their venom, venom that should have been directed at their own team's failings.

Agree.
Happens so often when teams (people) can't look at their own failings and blame others.

The real problem is that they are ignorant racists. Those idiots would have likely expressed their venom in the same way if the person on their team who was "responsible" for the mistake that lost the series was black or perceived to be different at all from them. Whether it was directed at their own team's player or the other team's player is really irrelevant. To think that, let alone type it & broadcast it, is disgusting.

Their venom shouldn't have been directed anywhere. Their team, and their opponents played a great series. Someone has to win, someone has to lose. Be a good sport, enjoy the entertainment for what it is, and be as willing as the team to say "good game" along with a handshake and respect.

I thought it was a few people but that is awful.
And everyone thinks southerners are racist.

Ward is a good dude, doesn't deserve that.
