seriously?....those were all facts. 3/4 remaining crappy contracts only have one year left. I think we can deal with it.

- noename09

It's just the fact that you think Connolly could be an effective 3rd line center at 4 mill, and that Armstrong needs to be given more chances. They are taking up roster spots of players on the Marlies, that need to play. I'd rather suck ass with some of the kids, the. suck ass with Connolly,Lombo and Armstrong.

I personally don't think Reimer will be, but I think Scrivens is a pretty damn good goalie that has the potential to be a starter...

I'd like to see him get a chunk of games, especially if they go on a run to the Calder cup, or close this year

- mfreedman

Scrivens can very well be a good starter down the road....but not if he enters the league backnig up Reimer and fighting for the spot. He should be molded into the starting position while playing behind a legitimate NHL starter, whether that be Luongo or not.

Irregardless I don't think Toronto has ANYTHING the nucks would want...maybe the 5th overall but that's a huge underpayment for a top 20 goalie of all time in this league. Tampa or Florida have better prospects so hopefully we choose to deal with them.
- I-own_da-Northwest

You couldn't be more wrong. Toronto has way more great prospects then we've had over the last 5-6 years, problem is Luongo isn't worth many of them.

You need to understand how business works. When the player publicly makes it clear he wants to move, you are not dealing from a position of strength.

I dont...actually...but considering we cant legally take him out back and shoot him, and Burke likely wont be able to trade him, or will want to demote him to the Marlies.....hes stuck with us, and for one more year he'll be fine on the 3rd line.

Not going over the Armstrong debate again....we've been through this.

I think Luongo will be a great fit on the Leafs if he gets traded there...

But, Leaf fans, don't expect to get him for a couple scrubs. Nobody is taking Lombardi, Connoly, Komi, or Phaneuf....

It's going to cost you a top prospect and a pick or instead of an established player.

I think Joe Colbourne and Schenn for Luongo and Raymond...

Leafs will make the playoffs with that and still have their #1 pick to grab Galeyenchuk

- riceroni

I thought you said we wouldn't get him with scrubs?
What might be an ok 2nd line center, most likely a good 3rd liner and what might an ok 4th dman but currently is a 5th/6th.....sure I'll do that trade.

Anyone that can mentor for a short period..

I would love to get those guys, but I doubt Harding signs for 2 years, and I doubt we could get vokoun to sign for 1 year again..

Im against the 2 year deal just cause the Connolly deal is annoying at the moment ... Uggggh,, annother year

- mfreedman

What do you mean? You're not excited about the fact that after 4 years of chirping about truculance and testosterone that we still have none?

Another instance of prices being way off. 5th is an underpayment to you, but an overpayment to most Leaf fans.
- Leafland

The idea of a 5th being an underpayment is retarded.

Very little the Leafs do shocks me, but trading that 5th for Lol-nogo would be near the top of the list.

besides that 5th is part of the retarded package we have earmarked for Nash, since we won't try to outbid the idiotic GM that offers Parise a 15 year deal.

Well Burke doesn't have one more year anymore. If he feels like gambling on Connolly, Armstrong and Lombo all the power to him, I'm not going to be sad when he's gone.

And because it's the Leafs, it absolutely will backfire in a hurry.

If they Get Luongo he will become crap immediately and it will go down as a stupider trade than the Gomez deal, no matter what we give up for him.

The thing is luongo Will get you guys to the playoffs, how he does there I dunno? With draft picks nothings guaranteed, same with guys under 23-24...you don't know what you're getting. Komisarek? Schenn? We have edler who is supposed to be good but is slow and coughs up the puck...so that would be a lateral move. MacArthur, bozak? MacArthur is about the same as booth...kes as of late = bozak...kes when playing good > bozak. Connolly should be good but often plays about as well as Raymond ... Again lateral moves. Our teams are so similar that I don't see how you could help us, different players...same result. Luongo is a great goalie but his time is done here. I know we won't rob teams to give him up but I expect that we'll get something half decent.

Yup.

Fans of the 29 other teams are just licking their chops at the possibility of adding more fuel to the "make fun of the leafs" fire.

Not a freakn chance!!

There is one way, and one way only that Lou ends up in Tampa, and thats if they trade for Vinny. NOT A FREAKN CHANCE Tampa takes on ANOTHER longterm contract!

- noename09

I questioned the same thing yesterday, but I am not convinced it is true.

If Gillis somehow finds himself dealing only with Burke, he might end up having to keep Luongo. If Burke even gets a hint of that kind of situation, it won't be pretty for Vancouver.

Dumb and dumb.
Looks at Lou's career numbers...he's a drastic improvement over anything the Leafs have.
You wanna make the playoffs next year....get a real goalie.
If Gillis asking price is too much..than move on....but you go for it.

since your selling point is that Lu will get us to the playoffs (really you have no idea).. I am telling you the 5th pick will be a star (really I have no idea).

You need to adjust your offer based on this new info

It all comes down to who has actual interest.

If there are somehow 5 teams willing to take on that contract, you might get a decent return.

There could very easily be only a couple, and only one of those be serious interest.

Gillis is going to also get SQUEEZED by having to get Schneider done... and Schneider is most definitely going to want to see what happens before he signs anything.

Love to see Gillis d1ck around on Schneider and Burke gets him to sign an offer sheet!!

That can be said for alot of players.
The point is he gets the Leafs there and he gives them a chance.
Something they dont have right now.

Alright boys...cased closed. Luongo goes to Tampa for Lecavalier.

Vancouver gets a gritty center with a Cup, Tampa gets a proven goalie themselves. Both GMs fill their needs but are still punished for signing long term contracts.

Done and done.

What I am personally pissed off at is the fact that Burke kept Wilson so long.
However, what I do not fault him for is for catering the team to Wilson's style. A GM needs to give the coach the best ability to win games, and that is by tailoring the players to his style.

I feel that this is the biggest reason that Burke went with Carlyle over Eakins when he had the choice.

I think he was sick of the fact that he disagreed with his coach on how to play the game and he wanted someone in that had the same view as him, thus Carllyle.

I also thinkt hat now that he has a coach who supports what he does, we are going to see an absolute poopstorm of changes in the roster this offseason.. It scares me a little, but also makes me happy. I think we're going to be very entertained for the next several months
