lol...thats a bit much...but I could ((actually)) see Vinny being traded to Vancity for Lou.
Helps out both teams with "players", but dosnt help either with contracts.
Vinny could be very useful in Vancouver, especially if they want to move Kesler. - noename09

Good write up.
I am not even entirely sold Toronto is on Lu's list. Not to sound like a douche, but it might be just something the media does, to make Toronto fans happy and to provide more off season Leaf talk. The same can be said for the Nash, Parise, Suter talk.
He clearly struggles in pressure markets and situations, why on earth go the the biggest market and pressure cooker of them all? I just don't buy it. I heard a while back that his wife loves the Florida area much more than Canada, so that helps T-bays cause again. |

Ya, i just think Vokoun is not a better option, he will cost less, but he didnt impress me with the Caps. - Conflict076
Agreed. But did anybody on the caps impress you during the regular season?
To me, the risk on vokoun is more worth it than giving up assets and 10 years of a contract for luongo.
With Vokoun; the Leafs roster does not get effected, leaving potential pieces to be traded to improve other areas. While also not being tied down for 10 years to an old goaltender.
When the season started and Washington was playing well, Vokoun looked like the perfect fit. But as the team slowed down and crumbled, so to did Vokoun's confidence.
But in the end it's the Leafs...they will be screwed no matter what route they take. |

Maybe they would but Burke HAS to WIN NOW.....Thomas or Luongo are IT...not a maybe AGAIN. No more gambling. If he hasn't finally learned with Cloutier forever and now the Reimer/toothless Monster he AND leaf nation deserves what they get....Tampa makes common sense for Lu but he's fierce as poope. He's viewing Tdot as his ultimate statement, and he WILL deliver a playoff if burke has balls....I'll bet my hockeybuzz membership for LIFE on him taking you to the playoffs if he's dealt there........ ![:yuck:](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/yuck.gif) - RichardPeterNuss
I do agree they need a sure thing in goal. However, to get Lu, you have to give up a good roster player, a prospect, and a high pick. I just think the Leafs would end up swapping their skater depth to fix their goalie depth and it will even out to the same result. Maybe Lu could get them to 8th, but with the current roster (minus a couple of guys you'll have to give up to get Lu) I don't see the Leafs being much more of a threat in the east. It would be much smarter to bring in Harding, Vokun, etc to handle the starters role and let Reimer ease back into being a legit NHL goalie. You don't loose any assets in this process. |

So basically you'd be ok with just Franson and a 3rd? Cause Army doesn't play anymore, he just sells t-shirts and takes picture with Brett Lawrie and Tyler Bozak. |

TO THE LEAFS:
PROS: Definite starter, one of the few teams who could afford to take him on and buy him out down the road if need be. Leafs are desperate for a starter of his ilk. Leafs arent expected to win the cup anytime soon, no BIG expectations aside from maybe the playoffs.
CONS: Media. Curse of the Leafs.
TO TAMPA:
PROS: Wife lives there, had some of his best years in Florida and, (frank) you can golf all year long!! Team is well built and could challenge for a cup soon with a few tweeks.
CONS: They have Vinny signed until 2020 and wont happen unless Vinny is moved. They are a cash strapped team and even IF Vinny is moved, the Org. might not want to take on Lou's contract. |

i would be concerned about luongo being able to handle the pressure and media in toronto..he seems to just barely be able to handle it in vancouver during the season...its x100000 in toronto...
plus hasnt his wife not moved from florida? i have a hard time imagining he isnt going to try and make it to tampa... |

I think we'd need to take his contract back, and I believe in the right situation he can still be an effective 3rd/4th liner. We wouldn't put up with his bullsh!t in Vancouver. |

Then have fun with Reimer next year...
Going to be an interesting summer for sure for the Leafs. They can either stick to the rebuild or blow their load on a bunch of vets... But the status quo can't be the plan for next year. - riceroni
Because you know what Gillis will be able to get for him and his very long contract? |
