Gusto. Bartulis is on recall waivers though, just to be a black ace - thenighttrain17
I think there is a chance Kubina might not play tomorrow. He's been terrible, but having Gustafsson and Manning/Bartulis would be frightening. Defense core is an absolute tatters. |

The caps aren't playing the way they did two months ago, if they were this series would be over. They might be the 2010 Flyers this year. They pulled it together down the stretch. - JoeRussomanno
You can say that about half the teams in the playoffs. Im just giving the guy his credit thats all. If you think its the defense and not much of Holtby then I must be watching a different game.

The d-core is as good as Pittsburgh's imo. |

They won't let that happen unless kubina is actually unable to play. Any word on MAB? |

I think you might be correct but then I'm missing someone I believe. The point is those goalies arent garbage. - stveshdy
You need a solid goaltender AND a team that doesn't hang him out to dry for three periods. Sure a goalie can pull of some miracle saves through some shoddy points in the game here and there but if you're banking on winning a cup by that, you're gonna be waiting a long time.
Look at the Penguins, they have a cup winning goalie but he isn't hurt and just had two games in a row where he gave up 6 or more goals. They haven't been able to win a cup with him since they let go of Gill and that other dman they had can't remember his name.
I mean geez we got three s/o's in the ECF's out of Leighton! WHy, because the D led by Pronger totally smothered Montreal.
Martin Brodeur arguably the best to ever play hasn't even won a playoff series since Stevens, Daneyko and Nediermayer all left. |

Well Letang is better than anyone the Flyers have by a wide margin. Orpik is solid, though dirty, but after that they don't have much. |

I think it's 50/50. You don't get one without the other. |

Fluery has let in some soft goals in this series. Not ever goal has been bc his defense has been bad.
I hear what your saying. |

I thought Manning did a pretty good job while here. MAB seems to have a habit (in my opinion) of letting himself take some pretty big hits as he's letting go of the puck. He just seems pretty vulnerable to the big ht.
I like the kid, but he's must have taken a dozen big time hits in the last few games he's played. That can't be good for his health. |

Detroit has had some very good veteran goalies that have helped them win a cup.

They've had average at best goaltending and a great defensive team surrounding them. |

I think their defense has been very solid for years but the goaltending is much better than average. |
