I know, but he was complaining about the way rules are written in the book.
I used that example to show that there are always exceptions and you could never account for every exception, so the rule has to be open to the refs discretion.
But as far as the hit, he did transfer his weight, but he also had to if he wanted to keep moving. This is what i see, he poked the puck away turned to follow the puck around the boards, grossman was there and he straightened his body up to maybe sneak by him, wasn't going to make it and decided to go through anyways, shoulder to a downed head and that was it. - Oilhab
He shifted his motion towards Grossmann to initiate contact. It had nothing to do with sneaking by. He could have just corralled the puck and skated straight by but he didnt. Pause that video at the :11 mark. Its clear as day where he was going with that hit. |

I would scratch Kubina as well add Gus and MAB or MannDog - stveshdy

What was our condition? Seems our entire forum roster is either sustaining or recovering from injury. Talk about pretzelville. - BulliesPhan87

Bourdon I would definitely have in. Hope he can return soon. Manning might be worth a shot. Can't be much more ineffective than Kubina. |

He looked fine laterally on the Letang highlight reel glove save.
Honestly, it's hard to tell with him because his lateral movement has never looked that great to me. - rockychocbill
On the amazing save on Letang, Bryzgalov was pushing off on the left foot, and was already leaning the right way to somehow get over.
Agree that his lateral movement, even without the chip fracture, is pretty average. That does make it harder to tell.

MAB is injured, is he not? - bodiva88
Yes. Team has not confirmed he's had a concussion recurrence, but that's what it's believed to be.

Bill was tweeting that last night. - bodiva88
Yup. I first saw it from jsaquella who brought it up to Dustin Leed. Thought he made a great point because Bryz didn't just look like he was playing bad. Seemed like something else was going on. |

Yes.
Everybody here believes it was malicious because it was Malkin and the Penguins are head hunters.
I'm not saying I know if he intended to or not...and you can have an opinion either way...fine.
He was, however, making a play on the puck...which does make a difference in determining if there was intent or not...at least according to the NHL rules.
Look, I argued with Penguin fans about the Steckel hit on Crosby. Seemed like a bad accident to me. But a lot of people wanted to make Steckel out to be a goon.
The evidence simply suggested otherwise.
Maybe he could have voided Crosby, maybe not. There was no clear intent...so I chose to think he dd not intend on hitting Crosby in the head. - icedog97
whatever -- he hit him with his elbow and saw him there the whole time. if that's not intent, I don't know what is. |

Why cause Kubina has been so great? He is probably the worst defenseman on the team at this current point. He cant even keep up with the play. |

I didn't see his look -- I would just hope that he can bounce back -- he doesn't have to be awesome, just has to be good. Did you have any questions for me? - flyersfan51
Yes. Do you think my January prediction of us seeing Leighton play goal these playoffs will come true? |

Kubina has been terrible. He cant move and is pretty much stuck in quick sand. |

Of the top 16 pt getters in the playoffs this year, 2 are not from this series, and all from the top 7 are. |

So in four playoff games two concussions thus far. They are ahead of the torrid regular season pace.
Perhaps some bubble wrap on the inside of the helmets, has anyone asked about that? |

God I hope not. But if Bryz is really hurt, then it WILL happen. |

I was thinking he was already in and they would be playing another rookie too. it's a mess right now. Glad we have the coach we do. |

And how did you sustain said break, Mr GFGS? Hopefully doing something uber manly like save a child from a burning building or playing hockey and not tripping on a frisbee in the back yard. |

Bourdon/Burden - PLindbergh31
honestly Carle hasn't been stellar but he hasn't been awful. He's being asked to play above his level a little and against the elite of the elite. I think even you gotta give him some credit. Every mistake he's making there's at least a baker's dozen good things he's doing. I do believe without looking he's logging more minutes than any other flyer. |

Truly embarrassing.
Bill, what are your thoughts on Rinaldo? Not only do I feel he SHOULD be suspended, but even if he's not, to me he's now proven how dangerous it is to have him in the lineup. It just seem inevitable that he'll do something stupid.
The Flyers can't risk stupidity in game 5 ... or beyond.
- FlyerGuy
I think, unfortuantely, Rinaldo has a target on his back regardless of what he does. It's a lot like when Downie was on the team. They might be better off getting something of any value for him in the offseason, because his very presence on the ice draws the attention of the referees, whether he does something to deserve it or not.
Last night was hard to stomach, but this team learned a valuable lesson last night. |
