Ok...this is good.
Now...watch again...did Malkin's (own) left arm move away from his body or toward his (own) body as he came closer and in contact with Grossman?. - icedog97

yep he did then threw the elbow which wasn't necessary - nastyflyergirl
his elbow didn't even touch his head, it was his shoulder. And malkin just stood up, he did lean into the hit but nothing that was malicous.

I'm not asking you to believe anything.
Watch the replay. Crosby goes for the puck and misses...Malkin pokes it around the other way.
I didn't magically change the video of last night's game.
- icedog97
Yeah and there wasnt space enough to avoid him. We can skew things all night long, but i havent seen flyers go for headshots, if anything they let up too much last game. - Philly1980
How is asking someone to look at the replay and see the poke check 'skewing'?

Still not feeling the inevitable?
Jason: "It's frickin' 9-3!!!"
His Mom: "Relax, it's just one game."
Jason: "It's not one game mom, it's a frickin' playoff game. You have to show the hell up!!!"
Mom: "Oh my god, you ARE just like your father..."
Me: "OK, job done, I'm getting a shower." |

I feel he threw an elbow. plain and simple. we don't agree. i also felt kennedy came in high on Grossman and hit him in the head as well. And what Rinaldo did was stupid. we don't agree. it is what it is |

Wheels came off in the 2nd. You can't beat a team that you give and/or is given back-to-back-to-back-to-back PowerPlays. The Pens got at least 4 in a row to start the 2nd period. That's absurd, especially given a few were so ticky-tacky as to be almost unnoticeable.
Did anybody see a replay of the Too Many Men penalty the Flyers got when they were about to get a PP?
And if Rinaldo is so bad and dangerous, what about Kennedy for his high hit on Grossmann? |

I blame you. And the guy on here that posted the picture of Bryz holding a broom the other day. And the stoopid newspaper picture of Crosby yesterday.
Oh yeah, and Matt Carle.

The goalie, carle and rinaldo. |

Still cannot believe how stupid and selfish he can be. Down 1-0 in an elimination game and spears Couturier right in the grommets. Then the Pens kill it, he scores pretty much right out of the box and I want to die. - OrangeBlack27
he seems to have a thing for cout's "grommets"
wasn't it malkin who popped him there in one of those last reg season games? |

Yes he wen for the puck...at the same time Grosmann was vulnerable. Why not kill two birds with one stone. That was a blatant elbow and you can see Malkin line him up perfectly. |

Carle screwed the pooch on that one pass in the 2nd just as the PP was about to end... He screwed the pooch royally.

The problem is, the rules should remove any bias from them. You cant judge on intent or result. You cant tell if a player wanted to hurt someone, and it shouldn't matter. You cant decide the severity of a penality based on if a player was hurt or not.
The rules should state, any hit which the principal point of contact is the head, will result in a X game auto-matic suspension.
The only thing that could change the number of games, is history of this play.
It's just like a high stick. Doesnt matter if it was intentional or not. If it hits the head, its a penality. You have to be responcible for your body, just as well as your stick. |

Yes.
Everybody here believes it was malicious because it was Malkin and the Penguins are head hunters.
I'm not saying I know if he intended to or not...and you can have an opinion either way...fine.
He was, however, making a play on the puck...which does make a difference in determining if there was intent or not...at least according to the NHL rules.
Look, I argued with Penguin fans about the Steckel hit on Crosby. Seemed like a bad accident to me. But a lot of people wanted to make Steckel out to be a goon.
The evidence simply suggested otherwise.
Maybe he could have voided Crosby, maybe not. There was no clear intent...so I chose to think he dd not intend on hitting Crosby in the head. |

I dont know if it was an elbow or shoulder tbh, but he definitely shifts his body and lunges for the hit. |

He saw an opportunity to get a cheap shot in and he took it. It plays along with all the other disrespectful hits and cheap shots that have crept into the game now. There was absolutely no need for it. He clearly altered his body position to do the deed. Is it the worst one ever? Of course not. But it clearly was an intent to get a free shot in imo. |
