Torres suspended indefinitely, pending hearing on April 20th
- Jsaquella

This is just awful. This is why there is such a problem. Its not just the inconsistancy, but the time it takes for these. The review, call, and suspension should all be placed the day after the incident, before the next night's games, so all the players can see the consequences before the next set of games start. No reason this can't be done.

I found the amount of strident vitriol it generated from some here and on Flyers fans inundating our board to be somewhat amusing considering its the same kind of mayhem Flyers teams have been pulling for their entire existence. When your team markets itself with the Bullies persona, you are what you are and one series worth of being the more disciplined, composed team doesn't change that. Not saying there was no right to be angry about what the Pens did, I just found it amusing for the shoe to be on the other foot of this REALLY bizarre series. Just my $.02.

I've been hoping the Flyers orgaNIzation would drop the Bullies BS for a long time. I think it's funny how upset Flyers fans are by the Pens gooning it up. These same fans would be upset if the Flyers didn't goon it up if they were in the same situation as the Pens. I'm not excusing the Pens behavior either. Glad to see a Flyers team that is more concerned about winning games than winning fights.

It all comes down to #3. The more outrageous the better. Brad mentioned the lowest common denominator earlier...well, here you go. The WIP crowd.

The Flyers have never backed away from their Bully persona, they have embraced it because it will never go away.

To always bring up the BUT on the way another team plays and compare to the Bully era is just comical.

What is going on in today's game in different then the Bully era.

There are too many examples from other teams to keep on referencing the Bullies but it is what it is.

As for tonights game.
The pressure is on the visiting team. The Flyers need to stay focus and play hard.

allright way off topic, but there's a lot of guys in this room whose opinions i respect, including some of those i debate with.....

my next door neighbor works on my car. he charged me 610 dollars in feb for repairs to my car. he never did them and now insists i have to pay him about the same amount for the same repairs. i trusted him a lot so when he asked me for money i just handed it over without complaint. but he tried jabbing me again on price, so i got pissed and i looked through my texts and there it was the 610 dollars i gave him went to repairs that still are not done and he insists i have to pay him that money. basically the way i see it, he owes me 670 dollars. or the equivelent in repairs.

how should i break this to him? should i be prepared to protect myself? i think he's picked up a habit as well.

- flyerscup2011

Really you should let him know if he doesn't either A do the repairs or B fork over the money you're going to the police, that's theft.

5-on-5 play, he's even. 3 for, 3 against.

Ya, and Stamkos was only plus 7 over the series. Plus minus is a stat that has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Anyways, I'll keep this short. The Flyers have earned everything they've gotten to get to this point, and for what its worth, while I don't plan on rehashing every moment of Sunday, I was embarrassed by what took place from a Penguins perspective. Agreed. And while I've been a Flyers follower since the Cup years I often struggle with this mentally. I lean more towards the skill part of the game. But I also like "Flyers" hockey, which has been, and continues to be, a mix of skill, and tough, in your face hockey. There have been many embarrassing moments for us over the years too. Some as bad or even worse than those displayed in this series by your team. It's a black eye on the sport in general. And it appears it's becoming more prominent around the league these days. I really hope they (NHL and NHLPA) can get a handle on it this off season.

Hopefully we see a good, clean, hard fought, close hockey game tonight.

That series isn't what I want to think, it's making me think, there's a difference. Let's see what happens though. I just think right now he's benefiting form Pittsburghs negligence more than anything.
- JoeRussomanno

Briere is one of the top playoff scoeres in the entire League, since the lockout. Against multiple teams. So how can it be that he's only scoring due to the Pens negligence? That is again ignoring all of the information available.

Glad to see so many of you (frankly just about everyone who I expected would) being embarrassed by that inane cover. That goes well beyond the pale of of an entity holding itself out as conveying journalism. Crosby is understandably never going to be well liked in Philly, but this stuff just reeks of amateur hour crap.

But to be clear, that didn't make what the Pens did any less distasteful from my perspective and I have no issue with the suspensions that we assessed.

I have no idea how tonight will play out tonight, but the Pens just looked too out of sorts to me on Sunday for me to be hopeful that they are capable of turning things around tonight. The Flyers are in their heads, and kudos to them. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding out much hope.

this is simply not true, and falls into the same mystical belief that somehow the flyers are cupless since 1975 because of goaltending. it's just nonsense.

the bigger problem is that Torres did his job, he took out a star player. A player that will make a difference in the game versus Torres offensive punch in the game. The Hawks lose a player versus the Yotes don't really lose a player. Advantage Yotes.

Well in a case like this, they have a right to an in person hearing, so they have to get there, have a hearing, then make a decision. So it would be pretty well impossible to have a suspension like this by 7 eastern.

Well giving him more money should be out of the question. If he threatens you, then yea be prepared to protect yourself and also make a police report. Also, I'd at least let an investigator look at the evidence you have. If you have records showing you made a withdrawl from your bank account and a witness, that can also be used, depending on the laws in your area too of course. Sometimes just letting them know you are gonna call the cops will change someone's tune. It all depends though.

Edit: In fact there's a current police officer posting on this thread, wonder what he thinks?

That'd be my guess. I think that the NHL goes Matt Cooke on him. They suspend him for a good long while and tell him, next time, it's a year, even if it's something minor. We're sick of seeing you here.
