The whole team struggled against Boston, hence the final result. Just the year before he was a major catalyst in the Flyers historic comeback against the same team.

You can't deny the fact that when the game holds meaning, Danny comes up huge.

- BoomGoesTheCoburn

YEa he does, but he's also a liability. so really it just evens out imo.

What good is the damage if he's allowing equal damage to be done? It's like a quarterback that throws 25 td's and 25 interceptions. He's not winning you a championship unless they have a defense that is lights out.
- JoeRussomanno

It is still be to seen IMHO. We won't truly see how he is playing until a tight checking game. So far he has enabled the Flyers to win with timely big saves and that is what you ask of him. So far I would say he has earned his paycheck but in a tight game....I share your concern but am willing to wait and see.

all of this, but the you can't beat us chirping really bugged me. i don't want to borrow anything from the blueshirts, ever, certainly not when the series isn't even over.

It was lame.

The pressure is on the Flyers right now. No one expects the Pens will win tonight
- Just5

That doesn't put any extra pressure on the Flyers. Believe me, ALL the pressure is on the Pens not to get swept.

It could be, and Schenn did leave his feet on the hit-you can see it on the end camera shot-so any gripes on that hit from Pens fans are valid.

But, tonight, the Flyers really need to finish this series off. Stay smart, work hard and end this thing. Don't allow the Pens off the canvas. If they can win without Neal and Adams, they'll get a boost for a game 5, and if the Pens can get two wins, the dynamic is definitely different.

The Pens might be down, but like a crippled rattlesnake, they're still dangerous.

- Jsaquella

I understand.

Respect them but continue to play them they way you have the first 3 games.

I feel confident about tonight and the best part is we know that the first goal doesn't mean much!

Hope I'm wrong but going forward, I think we're going to be coming accross teams like Boston or NY that can shut him down and exploit his lack of defensive game. Then we'll all be singing a different tune. Like I said hope I am wrong.
- JoeRussomanno

Briere hasn't been shut down in the playoffs in a long time. Get on the Briere bandwagon Joe.

Good point. I thought he's looked bad. Him being out might be a net gain for the Pens.
- 2731color

I think it is a net loss for PIT. Anytime you take out a regular NHL D man it is a loss. Do we really think they will replace his minute with someone better. I agree he has been atrocious but will his replacement really be better? I don't think so.

Rather have the pressure of being up 3-0 than the pressure of being down 3-0. The Pens lose tonight and the season is done. That is pressure, regardless of what anyone expects.

It's not funny, it's poorly done and the worst part is, when Seravalli tweeted it last night he seemed proud of it, until he got buried by negative tweets saying it was stupid.
- Jsaquella

Edit: he's also been on the ice for as many goals against the team. SO really his contribution is breaking even in my book.

I have confidence, but they have to keep doing what's working and tighten up the stuff that hasn't worked.

Perfect world, we have a boring win tonight and no injuries or antics from anyone.

I just hope his lack of defense isn't exploited to the point of the Flyers being eliminated. I'm sorry but I don't see him scoring much against the better defensive teams in this year's playoffs. We'll see.
- JoeRussomanno

There are 4 other players and a Goalie out there when Briere is on the ice. One player can't be exploited tp the point of losing a Series. What in Briere's past playoff history says that he won't score against the better defensive teams?

Okay guys. Non hockey related question, but I respect all your opinions, so I'm going to ask.

Money is tight right now and I have an upgrade for my Cell Phone coming up.

I use sprint.

I want to get an iPhone but I'm conflicted. I can get the iPhone 4 for 99 bucks, or I can get the iPhone 4s for 199. The 100 bucks makes a big difference in my pocket, so I want to know if the added features of Siri and the faster speeds are worth this extra 100 bucks...

- RooNosHockey

Get Galaxy IIs from Sprint. Better than iPhone.

I want Hartnell to drop a Hogan Leg Drop on Crosby while simultaneously scoring the double OT game winner. That's my perfect world.

The entire team was shut down in that Series. You said back in the regular season that there is no way Briere can turn it on in the playoffs. Now here he is with 4 goals in 3 games. Now he won't be able to do it against top defensive teams. What does Briere have to do to earn any benefit of the doubt here?

I have a horrible feeling about tonight. For some reason I have a feeling the Flyers are going to get throttled.

First and foremost I want to see a strong defensive game from forwards and D and a strong performace out of Bryz.

One has to expect Fluery to bounce back as well as Pitt's star players w/their backs against the wall.

I hope I'm wrong!

Yes I know there's four other players but he's a liability defensively. For all the goals he scores in the playoffs he's still a negative in plus minus, there is a reason for that. It's not like he is out there to check the other team's top lines. As for history you need look no further than last year against Boston. You guys are overlooking that but I'm not. Jvr had a big series against them. He did so because he's the type of forward you need against teams like that. Teams like that are the teams you need to beat to win the cup. Briere I don't feel is going to be as effective against those teams and his lack of defensive game will make him a liability.

Let's see what he does going forward. Right now everyone is scoring on the penguins, they are a lot more so than the Flyers, totally neglecting the back end and the goalie has all but checked out for them. Also he's on the ice for as many goals going back the other way. It's breaking even in my book. Not helping and at this point not hurting. But when a team limits him offensively, that's when you will feel it.

I think the flyers players get that. A good start isnt even the key. The key is how they control the tempo of the game. If its another run and gun kind of game its ours. If they let the pens play a slower type of game more suited for their current roster then all bets are off.

Dannys line needs to backcheck WAY BETTER tonight as well
