Anyone who thinks the Torres hit is dirtier than the Keith elbow or Weber turnbuckle is a (frank)ing moron. Torres had a skate on the ice until contact. Hossa had his head down. If Hossa didn't have enough time to bring his head up after dishing the puck, then why is Torres expected to have enough time to abort the hit? Slow motion replays are the worst thing to ever happen to hitting.

The only thing wrong with that hit is the recipient wasn't Duncan Keith.

This. And for the record, I was fine with the Brown hit in case I get a hypocrite comment.

So you're ok if someone gets paralyzed or killed because 'running a player in open ice' is an acceptable strategy in playoff hockey. I never said it was WORSE than any other hit, the ones you've mentioned aren't comparable. One was a sucker punch to the back of the head into the partition, the other was an elbow aimed at the head. As I stated, there has to be a clear guideline and ZERO tolerance for hits to the head, intentional or otherwise. Every hit to the head should be a fine or suspension, NO EXCEPTIONS, just like the NFL. See Gregg Williams and Sean Payton when it comes to injuring (or attempting to injure) players and the punishment they got, for the same strategies employed in the NHL playoffs. It's GOT TO STOP!

Keith's was certainly worse, and much farther from being a 'hockey play', but certainly Torres had time to change direction or let up. Hockey may be a fast game but so are the players... the reflexes and agility of the average player are great. We know what we're seeing with that hit, even at regular speed—Torres is aiming to drive right through Hossa.

The only thing wrong with that hit is the recipient wasn't Duncan Keith.

Kieth should still be suspended and not playing right now, IMO, but no hockey fan should wish something like this. The way this first round's been going, how about we just all hope that no other player leaves in a stretcher.

They have fines. They're a joke. They seriously need to jack the fines up to 25K at least to get a notice. Suspensions should also come with automatic fines.

First thing they need to do is increase the amount they can fine the players. 2500$ is a (frank)ing joke.

Like I posted before, first offense, 1 game for hit to the head + 1 for whatever infraction it was (interference/boarding/charging/etc.) + 5 if it was intent to injure and + X# of games for how long the injured player's expected to be out of the lineup TBD by an INDEPENDANT doctor's assessment. Next offense 2 games ++, third offense 5 games and if you do it a 4th time you're gone for the season regardless and have to reapply next season to be able to play and if you get your 5th suspension like that, you're out, no exceptions. See the NFL and how they handled Sean Payton/Gregg Williams for even the APPEARANCE of intending to injure players. That's the sort of supplemental discipline we need in the NHL today.

Where's the WCE line (before the Bertuzzi incident) that was so good at playing against it? Oh right... great in the regular season and useless in the playoffs, I forgot.

Reading the Chicago boards is nothing short of hilarious.

Torress should be suspended for life from the NHL, but the hit on Daniel Sedin deserved 2-3 games max.

As for Daniel Sedin, I hope the Canucks don't rush him back for game 4.

It's highly unlikely that he's able to return at this point. He has only practiced twice since March 21st, and only one time this week.

He's obviously a key part to the future of the franchise. Why risk his health and rush him back when you're down 3-0 in a series? Be cautious and give him an extra couple of days, hopefully he's ready if the Canucks force a game 5.

Call it karma or whatever but between the Keith hit to Daniel and the Shaw hit to Smith, I doubt they'd find much sympathy. But they need not worry: Torres will get a suspension of some description. You never know with Shanny.

He said himself he is out of shape. If anything I think the team is doing him a favor allowing him to play and get back into game shape.

I agree though, I think the team without daniel can win tomorrow night and give Daniel until sunday off and if he is ready to go for game 5 and wants to play then put him in.

I don't think you will find too much sympathy in a Canucks blog for the Hawks.Keith's hit was way more intentional .The wheel of discipline has determined that hit gets 4-5 games. Torres history may bring that number to 10 games.
