pssst....Penguins drafted more players than just Crosby.
- Barx

Fleury #1
Malkin #2 (behind OV)
Crosby #1

Add in Bylsma then.

all it takes is 3 years of finnishing in last, and then 4 years of drafting support. Burke could get us a chance at the cup in 7 years... yay

He's adding prospects and adding NHL'ers at the same time while staying young and "trying" to compete.

I get that they've failed, but if you're willing to wait another 3 years a lot of these prospects/young NHL'ers on our roster will begin to pan out.

Yes Burke needs to shut up abuot winning now, but ignore that..it's fluff and nothing more.

Until people stop expecting Schenn to play 26+ minutes and shut down the top lines of their opponents, I won't believe for a second that Toronto fans are actually ready for a rebuild like they say they are.

- Juice

it sounded an awful lot like burke is ready to trade that 1st for nash........

pssstt

But during the presser ( the conversation we are having right now)

They talked about Sidney Crosby. That's what their discussion was.

- Cherry--Skoal

no, they talked about the penguins model...which means draft, and keep your picks....it's quite simple really.

So he wants them to strip it all down so they are guarunteed for a lottery pick

...wait wasn't Ottawa guaranteed to be that this year?

This barx character. All he does is whine and spin and flip flop, go after typos when he's got nothing left to say.

Yup, and I'll be pissed if he does.

He'd better have a #1 centre lined right up if he does trade for Nash. I don't mind him trading for Nash, but not at the price of that 1st rounder.

But everything he said the teams needs is completely accurate...he admitted they failed and the team didn't do what he thought.

How's that a surprise to anybody? I don't need to hear him say that to know what happened and what they need....

- Juice

The issue is he has no real model

He wasted 4 years on a model that he blames on his fired coach which he gave a Golden hand shake at the end.

I can't believe he's blame Wilson for the type of team he put together. Talk about throwing a guy under the bus!.

Carter Ashton is nothing right now. He doesn't belong in the NHL and he may well never be in the NHL.

I can tell you what is going to happen he's going to trade the Pick plus for Rick Nash. Then he is going to tell the fan base we needed help now and that pick may never turn into an NHL star and if it does it would take 4 years.

The leafs will still loose next season because Nash cant stop pucks or play d

those 2 guys are like final pieces to a cup puzzle

He's adding prospects that are going to be 3rd liners.

Coulbourne looks to be a 3rd liner maybe a AHL guy at best.

Kadri will be a 3rd liner maybe 2nd on a bad leafs team.

They have no budding stars in the system besides maybe Gardiner but im not even totally sold on him he had 1 decent season.

I'm not about to get into a pissing match with you, but I think BB deflected that question quite well. Pittsburgh using the draft was more than just Crosby. But BB make it out to be about the one year they won a "lottery".

Pittsburgh is good enough to win a Stanley Cup WITHOUT Sidney Crosby.

Pittsburgh got over a 100 points this year with Crosby missing most of it, how can you even say that?
- LeftCoaster

I'm not denying that Ray Shero is a good GM and has done a great job. Im just saying that people are skewing his comments and making it seem like he is implying that it's not a good model. Nobody wants to point out Burke crediting Shero as being a great manager. All he was saying was that they got lucky because they got the best player in the game. He was saying that what happened to Pittsburgh was not available to him and he was right. Is Nail Yakupov a Sidney Crosby caliber player? No. I'm not standing up for Burke as a GM in general, I am just defending him for his Pittsburgh statements where he meant no harm whatsoever.
