Also when I think of it 5 is a great spot if everything goes as said by button we get galy if the jackets take grigs second we got a chance at either forsberg galy or murray and I'd take any of those players their all going to be good.

Who's saying that? Galchenyuk put up 84 points in his rookie season in the O, if he had played this season he would most likely be ahead of Grigorenko let alone Forsberg. Not saying Forsberg is a bad pick but between the two Galchenyuk has fair more potential and is a natural center.

I'm doubtful that the Habs and Islanders pass over him; I think we'll be stuck with a D.

There are some very good dmen ranked high in this draft.

Draft the best player available.

IMO.

And if you think that you can get a player just as good and pick up more assets by moving down, you do it.

I agree, I would expect something major coming in Leaf Land I believe BB is really frustrated at this team. Some of the garbage he said yesterday in his press conference is just garbage other stuff was true.

Trying to think what Burke would do for the goalie situation...

Schneider - He drafted him didn't he? unproven, young, and coming out of a good system. Risky.

Luongo - hmmm maybe, I wouldn't be happy about what we would lose to obtain him however. Expensive choker but wins games.

Bernier - see Schneider*

Kiprusoff - 35 could this be old fashioned sell future for old vets on their downswing? Maybe, but Kipper played 70 games this season, he would be getting a rest in TO. Calgary is a poopty team so you know he's actually good. Burke would have to get crafty but I think Kipper is the perfect candidate. 2 years left on his 5.8mil contract too. Not sure the cost to obtain, but Calgary is rumored to be on a youth movement. It would be interesting to swap picks in a trade package involving Kipper (could land Gaunce still).

Roloson - 40? 45? But the guy still has game, looked fantastic in March & April. Cost only $, no assets lost, 1 year term, cheap, his kids are already in TO. Experienced vet and only needs to play 40ish games. Risky, but a solid plan B if Kipper's cost is too much.

Harding - I like the guy but no thanks, he's not the game stealer Leafs are looking for.

Backstrom - had an off year but is usually a top goalie in the league. 1 year left on a 6mil cap hit. I don't know what Minni's financial status is or if they've given up on backstrom due to his injuries, but he could be a possibility.

So I guess I'm saying we should grab Kipper out of this list. Second choice Roloson. What would you offer for Kipper and their 1st (Gaunce?)?

Our 1st (Forsberg/Reilly/Dumba) + Colborne + Blacker + Connolly/Komisarek is my proposal

Let me shift the conversation over to the habs so I'm not accused of trolling...

Montreal are drafting in the top 5 (#3)... and quite frankly, if they draft there, it's because they have a whole lot of friggin' holes to fill. Defense being one of their main problems over the last season.

Here's hoping. It gets risky now b/c Oilers were for sure taking Murray, but CBJ I'm not sure they will. SO if they take Grigs, I'm under the impression MTL is very fond of Galchenyuk, some say over Grigs even, so I doubt they take Murray over him either.

Oh god....

For two years of Kipper!? Because we are a playoff ready team with Kipper that we need to sell three prospects and a roster player to get a goalie for 2-3years?
